Velvet Bean roasts in small batches on a drum machine set against the back wall, so the whole room carries the smell of the beans before the first cup is poured. Espresso lands in a warm terracotta cup; the milk drinks get a slow, hand-poured finish at the bar.
The room itself is built for staying: low amber light, hard wooden edges, a few seats at the window and a long shared table. Come for the espresso, stay for the second one.
