zinc-project System Requirements Document

Introduction

The zinc-project aims to develop a simple, single-page calculator application. This document outlines the system requirements necessary to achieve this goal.

System Overview

The zinc-project is designed to be a straightforward, user-friendly calculator accessible via a single-page web application. The focus is on simplicity and ease of use, ensuring that users can perform basic arithmetic operations without unnecessary complexity.

Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should be able to perform basic arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • As a User, I should be able to clear the current input to start a new calculation.
  • As a User, I should be able to view the results of my calculations immediately after entering an operation.

User Personas

  • User: An individual seeking a quick and easy way to perform basic arithmetic calculations on a single-page web application.

Core User Flows

  • User opens the calculator page -> enters numbers and selects an operation -> views the result -> clears input for a new calculation.

Visuals Colors and Theme

  • primary: #4A90E2 (a calm blue for the main interface)
  • primary_light: #A6C8F0 (a lighter blue for hover states)
  • secondary: #E94E77 (a vibrant pink for emphasis and links)
  • accent: #F5A623 (a bright orange for call-to-action buttons)
  • highlight: #F8E71C (a warm yellow for active indicators)
  • bg: #FFFFFF (a clean white background)
  • surface: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.9) (a slightly translucent white for panels)
  • text: #333333 (a dark grey for primary text)
  • text_muted: #777777 (a softer grey for secondary text)
  • border: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.1) (a subtle grey for borders)

Signature Design Concept

The zinc-project will feature an interactive calculator interface that mimics a physical calculator. The buttons will have a 3D effect, appearing to press down when clicked, using framer-motion for smooth animations. The display will have a digital readout style, enhancing the tactile experience. Users can drag the calculator around the screen, providing a playful interaction model.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The landing page will use an "animated" interaction model. The calculator buttons will have hover transitions and spring physics to simulate pressing. The overall design will focus on clarity and responsiveness, ensuring that the user experience remains intuitive and engaging.

Non-Functional Requirements

  • The application should load quickly and perform calculations without noticeable delay.
  • The interface should be responsive and accessible on various devices and screen sizes.
  • The design should be intuitive, requiring minimal user instruction.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: None required for this single-page application
  • Database: None required for this single-page application

Assumptions and Constraints

  • The application will be used primarily on modern web browsers.
  • No backend or database is required as all operations are client-side.
  • The design will focus on simplicity and ease of use.

Glossary

  • Arithmetic Operations: Basic mathematical operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Single-page Application: A web application that interacts with the user by dynamically rewriting the current page, rather than loading entire new pages from the server.
