1. Introduction

The tough-teakettle project aims to redesign and enhance the visual appearance of the existing website, teakettle.au. This document outlines the updated system requirements to enable customization of the website's visual appearance and theme while retaining its core functionality. The goal is to provide a refreshed, modern, and user-friendly interface that aligns with the brand identity and appeals to its Australian audience.

6. Signature Design Concept

The tough-teakettle homepage will feature an interactive "Tea Brewing Experience" animation.

Concept Details:

  • Visuals: The homepage will display a 3D-rendered teakettle that "steams" as users scroll. The steam will form dynamic shapes or text (e.g., "Welcome to tough-teakettle").
  • Interactions:
    • Hovering over the kettle will cause it to "whistle," with subtle sound effects.
    • Clicking on the kettle will reveal a menu styled as a tea selection box, where users can explore themes (e.g., "Earl Grey," "Matcha," "Chamomile").
  • Transitions: Smooth animations will guide users between sections, mimicking the flow of pouring tea.
  • Mood: Warm, inviting, and playful, with a focus on creating a memorable first impression.

This design will make the website instantly fascinating and align with the brand's tea-centric identity.

7. Non-Functional Requirements

  • Performance: The website must load within 3 seconds on standard broadband connections.
  • Accessibility: The design must comply with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.
  • Responsiveness: The website must be fully responsive and optimized for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
  • Localization: The website must support Australian time zones (AEST) and currency (AUD).
  • Security: User customization data must be securely stored and protected against unauthorized access.
