tough-sources System Requirements Document

Introduction

The "tough-sources" project aims to streamline the process of sourcing active job seekers from Ahmedabad. This document outlines the system requirements necessary to achieve this goal, focusing on efficient data management and multi-service data sharing.

System Overview

The "tough-sources" project is designed to facilitate the acquisition and management of candidate information from various sources in Ahmedabad. The system will integrate with local job portals, LinkedIn, recruitment agencies, alumni networks, and job fairs to gather a comprehensive list of active job seekers. Additionally, the system will support shared database access to enable seamless data sharing across multiple services.

Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should be able to access a shared database for multi-service data sharing.
  • As a Recruiter, I should be able to filter candidates by location, specifically Ahmedabad.
  • As a Recruiter, I should be able to integrate with local job portals like Naukri.com and Shine.com.
  • As a Recruiter, I should be able to use LinkedIn's advanced search filters to find candidates.
  • As a Recruiter, I should be able to partner with local recruitment agencies for candidate sourcing.
  • As a Recruiter, I should be able to tap into alumni networks for potential candidates.
  • As a Recruiter, I should be able to participate in job fairs and networking events to meet candidates.

User Personas

  • User: Individuals accessing the system for data sharing and management.
  • Recruiter: Professionals responsible for sourcing and managing candidate information.

Visuals Colors and Theme

  • primary: #1A73E8 (a deep blue for brand identity)
  • primary_light: #E8F0FE (a light blue for hover states)
  • secondary: #FF7043 (a coral hue for emphasis and links)
  • accent: #FFC107 (a vibrant amber for CTAs and badges)
  • highlight: #FFB300 (a warm gold for notifications and active indicators)
  • bg: #FFFFFF (a clean white for the page background)
  • surface: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.9) (a subtle white for card backgrounds)
  • text: #202124 (a dark gray for primary text)
  • text_muted: #5F6368 (a softer gray for secondary text)
  • border: rgba(60, 64, 67, 0.2) (a subtle gray for borders)

Signature Design Concept

The "tough-sources" homepage will feature an interactive galaxy map where each star represents a different source of job candidates. Users can click on a star to open a detailed card about that source, drag to rotate the galaxy, and hover to highlight connections between sources. This engaging and dynamic interface will be built using @react-three/fiber and @react-three/drei for 3D interactions, providing a memorable and interactive experience for users.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The landing page will utilize a "parallax" interaction model, creating a layered depth effect as users scroll through the page. Decorative elements like atmospheric blobs and particle fields will move at different speeds, while real content remains in the normal flow. This approach is ideal for creating a visually rich first impression that captivates users.

Non-Functional Requirements

  • The system must ensure data security and privacy, particularly for candidate information.
  • The system should support high availability and scalability to handle varying loads.
  • The system must provide a responsive design for accessibility on different devices.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Python, FastAPI
  • Database: MySQL or MariaDB, using Alembic for migrations
  • AI Models: GPT 5.4 for user-friendly responses
  • Local Orchestration: Docker, docker-compose
  • Server-side Orchestration: Kubernetes

Assumptions and Constraints

  • The system assumes access to local job portals and LinkedIn for candidate sourcing.
  • The system is constrained by the availability of data from recruitment agencies and alumni networks.
  • The system must comply with data protection regulations applicable in India.

  • Parallax: A scrolling technique that creates an illusion of depth by moving background images slower than foreground images.
  • React: A JavaScript library for building user interfaces.
  • FastAPI: A modern, fast (high-performance) web framework for building APIs with Python.
  • Alembic: A lightweight database migration tool for use with SQLAlchemy.
  • Docker: A platform for developing, shipping, and running applications in containers.
  • Kubernetes: An open-source system for automating the deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications.
