tough-healthcare System Requirements Document

Introduction

The purpose of this document is to outline the system requirements for the "tough-healthcare" project. This project aims to develop an all-in-one healthcare application that is unique, attractive, professional, and award-winning. The application will cater to both healthcare professionals and patients, providing a comprehensive suite of features to streamline healthcare processes and improve patient care.

System Overview

The "tough-healthcare" application is designed to be a versatile platform that integrates various functionalities essential for modern healthcare management. It will facilitate appointment scheduling, patient records management, communication between patients and healthcare providers, telehealth services, billing and payments, notifications and reminders, and analytics and reporting. The system will ensure secure data handling and provide an intuitive user experience for all stakeholders involved.

Functional Requirements

  • As a Patient, I should be able to schedule and manage appointments.
  • As a Healthcare Professional, I should be able to access and update patient records securely.
  • As a User, I should be able to communicate with healthcare providers through messaging.
  • As a Patient, I should be able to participate in video consultations for telehealth services.
  • As a User, I should be able to handle billing and payments seamlessly.
  • As a User, I should receive notifications and reminders for appointments and medication.
  • As an Admin, I should be able to generate analytics and reports for performance tracking.

User Personas

  • Patient: Individuals seeking healthcare services, requiring appointment scheduling, telehealth consultations, and access to their medical records.
  • Healthcare Professional: Doctors, nurses, and medical staff who need to manage patient records, communicate with patients, and conduct telehealth sessions.
  • Admin: Personnel responsible for overseeing the application, managing user accounts, and generating reports.

Visuals Colors and Theme

  • primary: #1A73E8 (a deep blue for trust and professionalism)
  • primary_light: #E8F0FE (a light blue for hover states and secondary UI)
  • secondary: #FF6F61 (a coral hue for emphasis and links)
  • accent: #FFD700 (a vibrant gold for CTAs and active states)
  • highlight: #FFA500 (an orange for hover states and notifications)
  • bg: #FFFFFF (a clean white for the page background)
  • surface: rgba(245, 245, 245, 0.8) (a light grey for card/panel backgrounds)
  • text: #333333 (a dark grey for primary text and headings)
  • text_muted: #777777 (a softer grey for secondary text and labels)

Signature Design Concept

The "tough-healthcare" app will feature an interactive 3D healthcare ecosystem on the homepage. Utilizing @react-three/fiber and @react-three/drei, users will navigate a virtual hospital campus where each building represents a different feature of the app. As users hover over a building, it will animate with a subtle glow and display a tooltip describing its function. Clicking on a building will smoothly transition the user into that feature's interface. This immersive experience will make the app engaging and intuitive, setting it apart from traditional healthcare applications.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The landing page will employ a "parallax" interaction model, creating a layered depth effect as users scroll. Decorative elements like floating medical icons and atmospheric particles will move at different speeds, enhancing the storytelling aspect. Internal pages will adopt a "static" model to prioritize clarity and speed, ensuring efficient navigation for data-heavy tasks.

Non-Functional Requirements

  • The system must ensure data security and comply with healthcare regulations.
  • The application should be responsive and accessible on various devices.
  • The system should support high availability and handle peak loads efficiently.
  • The user interface should be intuitive and user-friendly.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Python, FastAPI
  • Database: MySQL or MariaDB, using Alembic for migrations
  • AI Models: GPT 5.4 for user-friendly responses
  • AI Tools: Litellm for LLM Routing, Langchain
  • Local Orchestration: Docker, docker-compose
  • Server-side Orchestration: Kubernetes

Assumptions and Constraints

  • The application will be developed with a focus on the Pakistani healthcare system, considering local regulations and practices.
  • The system will prioritize user privacy and data protection.
  • The application will be scalable to accommodate future feature expansions.

Glossary

  • Telehealth: The use of digital information and communication technologies to access healthcare services remotely.
  • RDBMS: Relational Database Management System.
  • AI Models: Artificial Intelligence models used for generating responses and insights.
  • LLM Routing: Large Language Model Routing for directing AI tasks.

This document outlines the foundational requirements and design concepts for the "tough-healthcare" project, setting the stage for development and implementation.
