System Requirement Document

System Requirements Document (SRD)

1. Introduction

This document outlines the system requirements for a minimalist AI-powered to-do application. The application is designed to manage tasks efficiently by leveraging AI capabilities to sort tasks based on their titles. The focus is on simplicity, vivid design, and intuitive user experience.

2. System Overview

The system is a minimalist to-do application that uses AI to sort tasks dynamically based on their content. Users can add tasks via a one-line input section, view tasks in a list format with checkboxes, and interact with the application seamlessly. The AI will utilize zero-shot knowledge to categorize and prioritize tasks without requiring prior training. The design will be simple yet vivid, ensuring a clean and engaging user interface.

3. Functional Requirements as Story Points

  • As a User, I should be able to add tasks using a one-line input section at the bottom of the task list.
  • As a User, I should be able to view tasks in a list format, with each task displayed as a single line containing a checkbox and a task title.
  • As a User, I should be able to mark tasks as completed by checking the checkbox next to each task.
  • As a User, I should be able to see tasks automatically sorted by AI based on their titles when a new task is added.
  • As a User, I should experience seamless AI-powered sorting with zero-shot knowledge, ensuring tasks are categorized without prior training.

4. User Personas

1. User

  • Description: The primary user of the application. They are individuals who want a simple and efficient way to manage their tasks.
  • Goals: Add, view, and manage tasks easily while relying on AI for sorting tasks intelligently.
  • Pain Points: Overwhelming task lists, difficulty in prioritizing tasks, and cluttered interfaces.

5. Visuals Colors and Theme

The design will follow a minimalist yet vivid theme:

  • Primary Colors: White (#FFFFFF) for the background to maintain simplicity.
  • Accent Colors: Vivid blue (#007BFF) for checkboxes and task titles to add vibrancy.
  • Secondary Colors: Light gray (#F5F5F5) for borders and inactive elements to ensure a clean look.
  • Font Style: Sans-serif fonts like "Roboto" or "Open Sans" for readability.
  • UI Elements:
    • Checkboxes styled with vivid blue when checked.
    • Task titles displayed in bold vivid blue for emphasis.
    • Input section with a light gray border and vivid blue focus outline.

6. Non-Functional Requirements

  • The application must provide a responsive and fast user interface.
  • The AI sorting mechanism should operate in real-time without noticeable delays.
  • The design must be accessible and adhere to WCAG 2.1 standards for color contrast and usability.
  • The system must handle up to 10,000 tasks efficiently without performance degradation.
  • The application must ensure data security and privacy, especially for user-entered tasks.

7. Tech Stack

Frontend

  • React for Web: To create a responsive and interactive user interface.

Backend

  • Python: For backend logic and AI integration.
  • FastAPI: To handle API requests efficiently.

Database

  • MySQL: For storing task data and user preferences.
  • Alembic: For database migrations.

AI Models

  • GPT 5.2: For zero-shot task sorting based on task titles.

AI Tools

  • Langchain: To manage AI workflows and task sorting logic.

Local Orchestration

  • Docker: For containerization and local development.
  • docker-compose: For managing multi-container setups.

Server-side Orchestration

  • Kubernetes: For scaling and managing the application in production.

8. Assumptions and Constraints

Assumptions

  • Users will primarily interact with the application via a web browser.
  • Tasks will be simple text-based entries without additional metadata.
  • AI sorting will rely solely on task titles for categorization.

Constraints

  • The application must remain minimalist, avoiding complex features or cluttered interfaces.
  • AI sorting must function with zero-shot knowledge, requiring no prior training or user input for categorization.
  • The system must operate within the constraints of modern web browsers and devices.

9. Glossary

  • Zero-shot Knowledge: The ability of AI to perform tasks without prior training or examples.
  • Task Sorting: The process of categorizing and prioritizing tasks based on their content.
  • Minimalist Design: A design philosophy focused on simplicity and clarity, avoiding unnecessary elements.
  • WCAG 2.1: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, a standard for ensuring web accessibility.
  • Frontend: The user-facing part of the application.
  • Backend: The server-side logic and processing of the application.
  • AI: Artificial Intelligence, used here for task sorting.
  • Docker: A tool for containerizing applications.
  • Kubernetes: A system for managing containerized applications in production.

This document provides a comprehensive overview of the system requirements for the AI-powered to-do application, ensuring alignment with user needs and technical feasibility.
