Tidal-Page System Requirements Document

Introduction

The Tidal-Page project is a single-page to-do application designed with a minimalistic approach, tailored specifically for personal use. This document outlines the system requirements necessary to develop and implement the Tidal-Page application effectively.

System Overview

Tidal-Page is a streamlined to-do application that focuses on individual productivity by providing a distraction-free environment. The application will be developed as a single-page app, ensuring a seamless and efficient user experience. The primary goal is to offer users a simple yet powerful tool to manage their tasks effectively.

Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should be able to add new tasks to my to-do list.
  • As a User, I should be able to mark tasks as completed.
  • As a User, I should be able to delete tasks from my list.
  • As a User, I should be able to edit existing tasks.
  • As a User, I should be able to view all tasks in a single-page layout.

User Personas

  • User: An individual seeking a simple and efficient tool to manage personal tasks and improve productivity.

Signature Design Concept

The Tidal-Page application will feature a unique "Zen Garden" interactive design on the homepage. Users will be greeted with a serene digital garden where tasks are represented as stones. Each stone can be clicked to reveal task details, and dragging a stone to a different area of the garden will reorder tasks. The garden will subtly change colors throughout the day, providing a calming effect. This concept will be implemented using framer-motion for smooth animations and transitions, enhancing the user's interactive experience.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The landing page will utilize a "parallax" interaction model, creating a layered depth effect as users scroll through their tasks. The garden elements will move at different speeds, providing a visually rich and engaging first impression. Internal pages will maintain a "static" interaction model to ensure clarity and focus on task management.

Non-Functional Requirements

  • The application must load within 2 seconds on a standard broadband connection.
  • The user interface should be responsive and accessible on both desktop and mobile devices.
  • Data persistence should be ensured through local storage to maintain user tasks across sessions.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Python with FastAPI
  • Database: Local storage for task persistence

Assumptions and Constraints

  • The application is intended for personal use only, focusing on individual productivity.
  • The design will prioritize simplicity and minimalism to enhance user experience.
  • No server-side database is required due to the personal use scope.

Glossary

  • Single-page application (SPA): A web application that interacts with the user by dynamically rewriting the current page, rather than loading entire new pages from the server.
  • Parallax: A scrolling technique used in web design where background images move slower than foreground images, creating an illusion of depth.
  • Local storage: A web storage method that allows data to be stored locally within the user's browser.
