System Requirements Document (SRD)

Project Name: tidal-list

1. Introduction

The tidal-list project is a next-generation to-do list application designed to revolutionize productivity by introducing a specialized, niche-focused approach. Developed with Jitendra's vision in mind, this app aims to cater to users who seek more than just a basic task manager. By integrating advanced features such as AI-powered task breakdowns, project-based workflows, and gamification, tidal-list will stand out in a crowded market.

This document outlines the system requirements for tidal-list, ensuring clarity and alignment across all stakeholders. The app will primarily target users in India (IN), with locale-specific defaults such as IST (Indian Standard Time) and INR (Indian Rupee) for currency-related features.

2. System Overview

tidal-list is not just another to-do list app; it is a specialized productivity tool tailored to users who want to achieve more with less effort. The app will focus on the following key areas:

  1. AI-Powered Task Management: Automatically break down complex tasks into actionable steps.
  2. Project-Based Workflows: Ideal for robotics enthusiasts, builders, and creators, allowing users to manage multi-phase projects with attachments like code, parts lists, and diagrams.
  3. Gamification: Make productivity fun by introducing XP, levels, streaks, and rewards.
  4. Focus Mode: Help users concentrate by showing only the most critical tasks and integrating deep work timers.
  5. Smart Features: Include priority prediction, time estimation for tasks, and behavior tracking to identify productive and unproductive hours.
  6. Reality vs Plan System: Provide brutal honesty by comparing planned tasks with completed tasks to help users improve their planning accuracy.

The app will be available as a web application and mobile app, ensuring accessibility and seamless synchronization across devices.

3. Functional Requirements

Core Functionalities

  • As a User, I should be able to create a new task with a title, description, and deadline.
  • As a User, I should be able to categorize tasks into projects (e.g., "Build Drone").
  • As a User, I should be able to upload attachments (e.g., code files, diagrams, parts lists) to tasks.
  • As a User, I should be able to view tasks broken down into phases for project-based workflows.
  • As a User, I should be able to enable AI assistance to auto-suggest task breakdowns, deadlines, and build steps.
  • As a User, I should be able to earn XP and level up by completing tasks.
  • As a User, I should be able to unlock themes and avatars using earned coins.
  • As a User, I should be able to activate Focus Mode to display only three tasks at a time.
  • As a User, I should be able to use a built-in deep work timer to focus on tasks.
  • As a User, I should receive reminders and notifications for overdue or upcoming tasks.
  • As a User, I should be able to view productivity insights, such as most productive hours and lazy hours.
  • As a User, I should be able to see a "Reality vs Plan" comparison for my tasks.
  • As a User, I should be able to view a "Daily Mission" mode with only 3–5 tasks for the day.

4. User Personas

1. The Builder

  • Description: A robotics enthusiast or DIY creator who manages complex, multi-phase projects like drones or hexapods.
  • Needs: Project-based task management, ability to attach files, AI-powered task breakdowns, and progress visualization.

2. The Student

  • Description: A student juggling assignments, exams, and personal goals.
  • Needs: Focus Mode, distraction blockers, gamification to stay motivated, and insights into productive hours.

3. The Productivity Seeker

  • Description: A general user looking to improve personal productivity.
  • Needs: Simple task management, reminders, gamified rewards, and the "Reality vs Plan" system for better planning.

5. Visuals Colors and Theme

Unique Color Palette for tidal-list:

  • Background: #E8F7FF (soft aqua blue)
  • Surface: #FFFFFF (pure white)
  • Text: #1E293B (charcoal navy)
  • Accent: #FF8C42 (vivid orange)
  • Muted Tones: #B0BEC5 (cool steel gray)

This palette reflects a clean, modern aesthetic with a touch of vibrancy to keep users engaged and motivated. The aqua blue background evokes a sense of calm focus, while the vivid orange accent adds energy and excitement.

6. Signature Design Concept

Builder's Command Center Homepage

The homepage of tidal-list will resemble a futuristic command center for builders and creators. Users will be greeted with:

  • Interactive Project Dashboard: A dynamic, 3D-rendered dashboard where each project is represented as a glowing, rotating cube. Users can click on a cube to "zoom in" and view tasks, subtasks, and progress timelines.
  • AI Assistant Hologram: A virtual AI guide (animated in 3D) that appears as a floating hologram. It greets users, offers task suggestions, and celebrates completed tasks with animations like fireworks or confetti.
  • Progress Visualization: A circular progress bar for each project, with animations that fill the circle as tasks are completed.
  • Dynamic Background: The background will shift between a "day mode" (bright and airy) and a "night mode" (dark with glowing neon accents) based on the user's local time.
  • Micro-Interactions: Tasks will "light up" when hovered over, and completed tasks will dissolve into glowing particles that float upward.

This bold design will make tidal-list unforgettable, especially for users passionate about robotics, engineering, and technology.
