Introduction

The swift-application is designed to be a simple, single-page todo application. The focus is on minimalism and user-friendliness, ensuring users can manage their tasks efficiently without distractions.

System Overview

The swift-application is a web-based todo application that allows users to create, manage, and track their tasks on a single page. The application emphasizes simplicity and ease of use, providing a streamlined interface for task management.

Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should be able to add new tasks.
  • As a User, I should be able to edit existing tasks.
  • As a User, I should be able to delete tasks.
  • As a User, I should be able to mark tasks as complete.
  • As a User, I should be able to view all tasks on a single page.

User Personas

  • User: The primary user of the application who needs to manage personal tasks efficiently.

Visuals Colors and Theme

  • primary: #2A9D8F (a calming teal)
  • primary_light: #A8DADC (a lighter teal for hover states)
  • secondary: #E76F51 (a warm coral for emphasis)
  • accent: #F4A261 (a vibrant orange for call-to-action elements)
  • highlight: #E9C46A (a soft gold for notifications)
  • bg: #F1FAEE (a light, clean background)
  • surface: rgba(233, 244, 249, 0.8) (a subtle panel background)
  • text: #264653 (a dark slate for primary text)
  • text_muted: #6D8299 (a muted blue-grey for secondary text)
  • border: rgba(38, 70, 83, 0.2) (a subtle border color)

Signature Design Concept

The swift-application will feature an interactive "Task Canvas" as its signature design concept. The homepage will present a dynamic grid where tasks appear as sticky notes. Users can drag and drop these notes to reorder them, providing a tactile and engaging way to manage tasks. Each note will have a subtle shadow effect that lifts when hovered over, using framer-motion for smooth animations. The color of the notes will change based on their status (e.g., completed tasks will have a faded look). This interactive canvas will make task management feel intuitive and visually appealing.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The landing page will utilize an "animated" interaction model. This will include smooth scroll-triggered reveals and hover transitions to enhance the user experience. The single-page design will focus on clarity and ease of navigation, with minimal but effective motion to guide user interactions.

Non-Functional Requirements

  • The application should load within 2 seconds on a standard broadband connection.
  • The interface should be responsive and accessible on both desktop and mobile devices.
  • The application should support the latest versions of major web browsers.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Python with FastAPI
  • Database: MySQL or MariaDB, using alembic for migrations
  • Local orchestration: Docker and docker-compose

Assumptions and Constraints

  • The application will be developed for users in India, considering local timezone and currency formats where applicable.
  • The application will not include advanced features like task categorization or reminders at this stage.

Glossary

  • Task Canvas: The interactive area where tasks are displayed as draggable sticky notes.
  • Single-page application: A web application that interacts with the user by dynamically rewriting the current page, rather than loading entire new pages from the server.
