System Requirements Document (SRD)

Project Name: strong-data

1. Introduction

The strong-data project is a modern SaaS web application designed to empower users with AI-powered data analytics capabilities. Developed for users in Pakistan and beyond, this platform simplifies the process of extracting actionable insights from datasets, making advanced analytics accessible to students, small businesses, e-commerce sellers, and freelancers.

This document outlines the system requirements for strong-data, ensuring clarity and alignment with Muhammad Abubakar's vision for the project.

2. System Overview

strong-data is an AI-driven data analytics platform that allows users to upload CSV or Excel files and instantly receive clean, interactive charts, AI-generated insights, and downloadable reports. The platform also introduces a new feature enabling users to retrieve desired data insights without needing to upload any files themselves, further enhancing accessibility and usability.

The system is designed to feel like a simplified version of Tableau or Power BI but fully automated, beginner-friendly, and tailored for users who may not have advanced analytics skills.

Key features include:

  • File upload and processing system
  • Automatic chart generation
  • AI-powered insights engine
  • Interactive dashboards
  • Professional report generation
  • Data retrieval without file uploads

3. Functional Requirements

As story points:

  • As a User, I should be able to upload a dataset (CSV/Excel) via drag-and-drop.
  • As a User, I should instantly receive clean, interactive charts based on my uploaded data.
  • As a User, I should automatically receive AI-generated insights about my data.
  • As a User, I should be able to explore my data visually in an interactive dashboard.
  • As a User, I should be able to download a professional PDF report containing charts and insights.
  • As a User, I should be able to retrieve desired data insights without needing to upload any data myself.
  • As an Admin, I should be able to manage user accounts and datasets securely.
  • As a Guest, I should be able to view a demo of the platform's capabilities without uploading data.

4. User Personas

1. Admin

  • Manages user accounts and datasets.
  • Ensures system security and performance.
  • Monitors analytics and usage statistics.

2. User

  • Uploads datasets for analysis.
  • Explores interactive dashboards and insights.
  • Downloads reports for business or academic use.
  • Retrieves insights without uploading data.

3. Guest

  • Views a demo of the platform's capabilities.
  • Explores sample datasets and insights.

5. Visuals Colors and Theme

Unique Color Palette for strong-data:

  • Background: #F5F9FC (Soft Sky Blue)
  • Surface: #FFFFFF (Pure White)
  • Text: #2D3748 (Charcoal Gray)
  • Accent: #FF6F61 (Coral Red)
  • Muted Tones: #A0AEC0 (Muted Steel Blue)

The theme is designed to evoke professionalism, clarity, and modernity, ensuring a clean and minimal SaaS aesthetic.

6. Signature Design Concept

Interactive Data Universe Homepage

The homepage will feature a dynamic galaxy visualization, where each star represents a dataset or insight category. Users can interact with the galaxy by zooming in, clicking on stars, and exploring insights tied to each dataset.

Details:

  • Animation: Stars pulsate gently, creating a living, breathing effect.
  • Interaction: Hovering over a star reveals a tooltip with dataset details or insight previews. Clicking zooms into a specific dataset, transitioning seamlessly to the dashboard.
  • Color Shifts: The galaxy background subtly changes colors based on the time of day (e.g., soft blues for morning, warm oranges for evening).
  • Micro-interactions: Smooth transitions between sections, with stars "connecting" via animated lines to show relationships between datasets.

This design concept ensures the homepage is unforgettable, engaging, and visually striking, leaving a lasting impression on users.

9. Assumptions and Constraints

Assumptions:

  • Users will primarily upload CSV or Excel files for analysis.
  • The system will be accessed from both desktop and mobile devices.
  • Insights retrieval without file uploads will rely on pre-existing datasets or AI models.

Constraints:

  • File upload size limited to 50MB.
  • Interactive charts must use Plotly or Chart.js.
  • AI insights engine must support multiple languages, with English as the default.

10. Glossary

  • SaaS: Software as a Service.
  • CSV: Comma-Separated Values, a file format for tabular data.
  • Excel: Microsoft Excel file format (.xlsx).
  • AI: Artificial Intelligence.
  • Dashboard: A visual interface displaying charts and insights.
  • Insights: Actionable information derived from data analysis.
  • Interactive Charts: Charts that allow user interaction, such as zooming and filtering.

This updated SRD ensures that strong-data aligns with Muhammad Abubakar's vision, incorporating the new requirement for insights retrieval without file uploads while maintaining the platform's simplicity and user-centric design.
