stone-site System Requirements Document

Introduction

The "stone-site" project aims to redesign the existing website to incorporate a modern visual style and contemporary design patterns. This document outlines the system requirements necessary to achieve a sleek, user-friendly interface that enhances the overall user experience.

System Overview

The stone-site project will focus on transforming the current website into a modern, visually appealing platform. The redesign will emphasize a clean aesthetic, leveraging contemporary design elements such as glassmorphism and micro-animations to create an engaging user experience. The goal is to make the site more attractive and intuitive for users, ultimately increasing user engagement and satisfaction.

Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should be able to navigate the site with ease and find information quickly.
  • As a User, I should experience smooth transitions and animations that enhance the visual appeal.
  • As a User, I should be able to access the site on various devices with a responsive design.
  • As an Admin, I should be able to update content easily without extensive technical knowledge.

User Personas

  • Admin: Responsible for managing site content and ensuring the website is up-to-date.
  • User: General visitors who interact with the site to find information and services.

The following unique color palette has been designed specifically for the stone-site project:

  • primary: #1A5276 (Deep Blue)
  • primary_light: #5DADE2 (Light Blue)
  • secondary: #F39C12 (Amber)
  • accent: #E74C3C (Vibrant Red)
  • highlight: #F4D03F (Gold)
  • bg: #F8F9F9 (Light Gray)
  • surface: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.8) (White)
  • text: #2C3E50 (Dark Slate)

Signature Design Concept

The stone-site will feature an interactive "Living Watercolor" homepage. This concept involves a dynamic background that subtly morphs colors based on the time of day, providing a unique and engaging visual experience each time a user visits. The watercolor effect will be interactive, allowing users to hover over sections to see gentle ripple animations, creating a calming and immersive experience. The homepage will utilize gsap for smooth animations and framer-motion for interactive elements, ensuring a seamless and captivating user journey.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The landing page will employ a "parallax" interaction model, creating a layered depth effect as users scroll. This approach will feature decorative layers that move at different speeds, enhancing the storytelling aspect of the site. Internal pages will maintain a "static" interaction model to prioritize content clarity and readability.

Non-Functional Requirements

  • The site must load within 3 seconds on standard broadband connections.
  • The design should be responsive and compatible with all major browsers and devices.
  • The site should maintain a high level of accessibility, adhering to WCAG 2.1 standards.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Python, FastAPI
  • Database: MySQL or MariaDB, using Alembic for migrations
  • AI Models: Not applicable
  • Local Orchestration: Docker, docker-compose
  • Server-side Orchestration: Kubernetes

Assumptions and Constraints

  • The redesign will not alter the core functionality of the existing site but will enhance its visual and interactive elements.
  • The project will adhere to the existing content structure, with updates focused on design and user interface improvements.

Glossary

  • Glassmorphism: A design trend that uses transparency, blur, and shadow to create a frosted-glass effect.
  • Micro-animations: Small animations that provide feedback and enhance user interactions.
  • Parallax: A scrolling technique that creates an illusion of depth by moving background and foreground elements at different speeds.
