The spicy-build project aims to develop a comprehensive IT asset management system tailored to meet the needs of organizations in managing their IT assets efficiently. This document outlines the system requirements for the spicy-build project, ensuring that all functional and non-functional aspects are covered to deliver a robust solution.

2. System Overview

The spicy-build IT asset management system is designed to streamline the management of IT assets, including hardware, software, and related resources. The system will provide functionalities for tracking, auditing, and reporting on IT assets, ensuring optimal utilization and compliance with organizational policies.

3. Functional Requirements as Story Points

  • As an IT Administrator, I should be able to add new IT assets to the system to maintain an up-to-date inventory.
  • As an IT Administrator, I should be able to update asset details to reflect changes in the asset lifecycle.
  • As an IT Administrator, I should be able to retire or dispose of assets to keep the inventory current.
  • As a User, I should be able to view the assets assigned to me to track my resources.
  • As an IT Manager, I should be able to generate reports on asset utilization to inform decision-making.
  • As an IT Manager, I should be able to audit asset history to ensure compliance with policies.
  • As an IT Support Staff, I should be able to assign assets to users to facilitate resource allocation.

The spicy-build landing page will feature an interactive "Asset Lifecycle Journey" animation. Users will see a dynamic flow of IT assets moving through various stages of their lifecycle, from acquisition to retirement. Each stage will be represented by a distinct visual element that users can click to explore more details. The animation will be built using motion/react for smooth transitions and interactions.

Landing Hero Motion Brief

The hero section will depict IT assets being acquired, assigned, maintained, and retired. As users scroll, they will see assets transform through these stages, with each stage offering a brief description and interactive elements to learn more. The animation will loop every 10 seconds, with a reduced-motion option for accessibility.

8. Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The landing page will utilize an "animated" interaction model, featuring scroll-triggered reveals and hover transitions. Interactive elements will have spring physics for a polished user experience. This approach will enhance the storytelling aspect of the asset lifecycle journey.

9. Non-Functional Requirements

  • The system MUST ensure data security and privacy for all asset information.
  • The system SHALL support multi-user access with role-based permissions.
  • The system MUST be scalable to accommodate future growth in asset inventory.
  • The system SHALL provide a responsive design for accessibility on various devices.
