social-build System Requirements Document

Introduction

The "social-build" project aims to develop an application that allows users to manage all their social media post sharing from a single platform. This document outlines the system requirements for the application, ensuring it meets the needs of users like Jatin Yadav in India, considering locale-specific defaults such as timezone and currency.

System Overview

The social-build application will serve as a centralized hub for managing social media posts across various platforms. It will leverage pre-approved APIs to facilitate seamless integration and management of social media accounts, enabling users to post, schedule, and track their social media activities efficiently.

Functional Requirements as Story Points

  • As a User, I should be able to connect multiple social media accounts to the application.
  • As a User, I should be able to create and schedule posts for all connected social media accounts from one interface.
  • As a User, I should be able to view and manage scheduled posts in a calendar view.
  • As a User, I should be able to track the performance of my posts across different social media platforms.
  • As a User, I should be able to receive notifications for post engagements and scheduled post reminders.
  • As a User, I should be able to use pre-approved APIs to ensure secure and efficient integration with social media platforms.

User Personas

  • Admin: Responsible for managing the application settings, user accounts, and overseeing the integration with social media APIs.
  • User: The primary user who connects their social media accounts, creates, schedules, and manages posts.

Core User Flows

  1. User connects social media accounts -> User creates a post -> User schedules the post -> Post is automatically shared on the scheduled date -> User receives engagement notifications.
  2. User views scheduled posts in calendar -> User edits or reschedules a post -> Changes are saved and updated across all platforms.

Visuals Colors and Theme

  • primary_light: #A6D8FF (a lighter tint of the primary color for hover states)
  • secondary: #657786 (a neutral gray for supporting elements)
  • accent: #FFAD1F (a bright orange for call-to-action buttons and highlights)
  • highlight: #E0245E (a bold red for notifications and active states)
  • bg: #FFFFFF (a clean white background for clarity)
  • surface: #F5F8FA (a light gray for card and panel backgrounds)

Signature Design Concept

The home page of social-build will feature an interactive "Social Media Dashboard" concept. Users will see a dynamic, animated interface where social media icons float and connect in a network-like structure. As users hover over each icon, it expands to show recent posts and engagement metrics. This interactive network will be built using motion/react for smooth animations and transitions, creating an engaging and intuitive user experience.

Landing Hero Motion Brief

The landing hero will depict a seamless transformation of a single post idea into a multi-platform campaign. Users will see a post draft morph into branded content as it travels through a digital pipeline, branching out to various social media icons. This animation will loop every 10 seconds, using motion/react to ensure fluid transitions and interactions. The animation will pause on hover, allowing users to explore each stage of the post's journey.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

  • Intended Interaction Model: Animated
    • The landing page will feature moderate scroll-triggered reveals and hover transitions, enhancing user engagement without overwhelming them.
  • Internal Pages: Static
    • Focus on layout clarity for dashboards and settings, minimizing motion to prioritize usability.

Non-Functional Requirements

  • The application must ensure secure access control for user accounts.
  • The system should be scalable to accommodate a growing number of users and social media accounts.
  • The application should provide a responsive design for both web and mobile platforms.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Python with FastAPI
  • Database: MySQL or MariaDB, using Alembic for migrations
  • AI Models: Not applicable
  • AI Tools: Not applicable
  • Local Orchestration: Docker, docker-compose
  • Server-side Orchestration: Kubernetes

Assumptions and Constraints

  • The application will primarily target users in India, considering local timezone and currency settings.
  • The integration with social media platforms will rely on pre-approved APIs, ensuring compliance with platform policies.
  • The application will not include AI-driven features unless specified in future updates.

Glossary

  • API: Application Programming Interface, a set of protocols for building and interacting with software applications.
  • UI: User Interface, the space where interactions between humans and machines occur.
  • UX: User Experience, the overall experience of a person using a product, especially in terms of how easy or pleasing it is to use.
