System Requirements Document (SRD)

Project Name: silent-transactions

1. Introduction

The silent-transactions project aims to revolutionize personal finance management for general users by providing an AI-powered personal finance analyzer. This system is designed to address the common pain points of financial tracking, such as messy bank statements, lack of spending insights, and absence of alerts for overspending or unusual transactions. By leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies, silent-transactions empowers users to gain financial awareness and control in an intuitive and user-friendly manner.

This document outlines the system requirements for silent-transactions, tailored to the needs of users in India (IN), with locale-specific considerations such as currency (₹) and timezone (IST).

2. System Overview

The silent-transactions system is a mobile-first application with optional desktop support, designed to simplify financial tracking and analysis for general users. The system enables users to upload financial data, automatically categorize transactions, detect anomalies, visualize spending patterns, and receive actionable insights.

  5. Budget Tracking: Users can set budgets and receive alerts when they exceed them.
  6. Smart Insights: Personalized suggestions to optimize spending.
  7. Location-Based Insights: Automatic detection of transaction sources (e.g., Swiggy for food, Uber for transport).

3. Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should be able to upload a CSV file containing my financial data.
  • As a User, I want the system to automatically categorize my transactions into predefined categories like Food, Travel, Bills, etc.
  • As a User, I should receive alerts for unusual or high spending patterns.
  • As a User, I want to view my spending data in visual formats like pie charts and line graphs.
  • As a User, I should be able to set a monthly budget and receive alerts when I exceed it.
  • As a User, I want to receive insights such as "You spent 40% on Food" or "Reduce online shopping."

Interactive Financial Galaxy

The homepage of silent-transactions will feature an Interactive Financial Galaxy. Users will be greeted with a dynamic, 3D galaxy where each star represents a spending category (e.g., Food, Travel, Bills).

  • Animation:

    • Stars gently pulse and glow, creating a sense of movement and life.
    • Hovering over a star reveals its category and percentage of total spending.
    • Clicking on a star zooms in to show detailed insights for that category.
  • Transitions:

    • Smooth zoom-in and zoom-out effects when navigating between stars.
    • Subtle color shifts in the galaxy background based on time of day (e.g., dawn, dusk).
  • Micro-Interactions:

    • Stars sparkle when hovered over.
    • Budget alerts appear as shooting stars crossing the galaxy.

This design creates an unforgettable first impression while making financial data exploration engaging and intuitive.
