System Requirements Document (SRD)

Project Name: scenic-web

1. Introduction

scenic-web is a web application designed to aggregate job postings from multiple job sites and display them on a unified dashboard. The platform will also feature an integrated chatbot to assist users in navigating the application, answering queries, and providing personalized recommendations. This document outlines the system requirements for scenic-web, tailored for the Indian market (IN), considering locale-specific defaults such as currency (INR), timezone (IST), and user preferences.

2. System Overview

The scenic-web platform aims to simplify job searching by consolidating job postings from various sources into a single, user-friendly dashboard. Users will be able to filter, search, and save job postings based on their preferences. The chatbot will provide assistance, answer questions, and guide users through the application.

Key objectives:

  • Aggregate job postings from multiple job sites.
  • Provide a centralized dashboard for job search and management.
  • Integrate a chatbot for user assistance and personalized recommendations.

3. Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should be able to filter job postings by location, salary, job type, and company.
  • As a User, I should be able to search for specific job titles or keywords.
  • As a User, I should be able to save job postings to a favorites list.
  • As a User, I should be able to interact with a chatbot for assistance and recommendations.
  • As a User, I should be able to receive notifications for new job postings matching my preferences.
  • As an Admin, I should be able to manage job site integrations and monitor system performance.
  • As an Admin, I should be able to update chatbot responses and manage user queries.

4. User Personas

1. User

  • Description: Individuals actively searching for jobs.
  • Goals: Find relevant job postings, save favorites, and receive personalized recommendations.

6. Signature Design Concept

Interactive Job Universe Homepage

The homepage will feature an interactive galaxy map where each star represents a job category or industry. Users can hover over stars to see job postings in that category, click to zoom into specific industries, and explore job opportunities visually.

Details:

  • Animation: Stars will twinkle subtly, and the galaxy will rotate slowly to create a dynamic effect.
  • Interaction: Hovering over a star will display a tooltip with the category name and the number of jobs available. Clicking a star will transition the user to a detailed view of job postings in that category.
  • Micro-interactions: Smooth transitions between views, with subtle sound effects for clicks and hovers.
  • Color Shifts: The galaxy's background will shift colors based on the time of day (e.g., light blue for morning, deep purple for evening).

This design will make the homepage unforgettable and engaging, encouraging users to explore the platform.

7. Non-Functional Requirements

  • Performance: The system should handle up to 10,000 concurrent users without degradation in performance.
  • Scalability: The platform should be scalable to accommodate additional job sites and user growth.
  • Security: Implement robust security measures to protect user data and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Localization: Support Indian locale defaults, including currency (INR) and timezone (IST).
  • Accessibility: Ensure the platform is accessible to users with disabilities, adhering to WCAG 2.1 standards.

8. Tech Stack

Frontend:

  • React for Web

Backend:

  • Python
  • FastAPI

Database:

  • MySQL or MariaDB (using Alembic for migrations)

AI Models:

  • GPT 5.2 for user-friendly responses
  • Google Nano Banana for image generation

AI Tools:

  • Litellm for LLM Routing
  • Langchain

Local Orchestration:

  • Docker
  • docker-compose

Server-Side Orchestration:

  • Kubernetes

9. Assumptions and Constraints

  • The platform will initially target the Indian market, with potential expansion to other regions.
  • Job site integrations will be limited to publicly available APIs or web scraping where permitted.
  • The chatbot will rely on predefined responses and AI models for assistance.
  • The system will require periodic updates to maintain compatibility with job site APIs.
