Rising-Podcast System Requirements Document

Introduction

The "Rising-Podcast" project aims to create a visually captivating and engaging landing page for a podcast website. This document outlines the system requirements necessary to achieve a high-quality user experience through the use of motion and animation.

System Overview

The Rising-Podcast landing page will serve as the primary entry point for users, offering a dynamic and interactive experience. The focus will be on high-quality animations and motion graphics to enhance user engagement and provide a professional appearance suitable for a US-based audience.

Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should see a captivating hero section animation that introduces the podcast.
  • As a User, I should be able to view a featured episode section with an animated carousel or spotlight effect.
  • As a User, I should interact with animated call-to-action buttons for subscribing or following on social media.

User Personas

  1. Podcast Listener: Regular users who visit the site to listen to episodes and engage with content.
  2. Potential Subscriber: New visitors who are encouraged to subscribe or follow the podcast through engaging CTAs.

  • primary_light: #534BAE (Light Indigo)
  • secondary: #FF7043 (Coral)
  • accent: #FFEB3B (Bright Yellow)
  • highlight: #FFC107 (Amber)
  • bg: #F5F5F5 (Light Gray)
  • surface: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.9) (White)

Signature Design Concept

The Rising-Podcast landing page will feature an interactive "Podcast Galaxy" concept. Users will navigate a 3D galaxy where each star represents a podcast episode. Using @react-three/fiber and @react-three/drei, users can click on stars to open episode details, drag to rotate the galaxy, and hover to highlight connections between episodes. The background will subtly shift colors based on the time of day using gsap for smooth transitions, creating an immersive experience that evolves with the user's environment.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The intended interaction model for the landing page is "parallax." This will create a layered depth effect as users scroll, with decorative elements like atmospheric blobs and distant shapes moving at different speeds. The real content will scroll naturally, providing a visually rich first impression. Each section will have a distinctive core mechanic, such as the interactive galaxy map for the featured episode section.

Non-Functional Requirements

  • The website should load within 3 seconds on a standard broadband connection.
  • Animations should be smooth and not cause any lag or jitter.
  • The design should be responsive and accessible on both desktop and mobile devices.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Python, FastAPI
  • Database: MySQL or MariaDB, using Alembic for migrations
  • Local Orchestration: Docker, docker-compose
  • Server-side Orchestration: Kubernetes

Assumptions and Constraints

  • The website will primarily target a US-based audience.
  • The design must adhere to accessibility standards.
  • The animations should not compromise the website's performance.
