System Requirements Document (SRD)

Project Name: regal-documentation

1. Introduction

The regal-documentation project is a comprehensive initiative aimed at developing both a mobile application and a website to provide full documentation for ROOT. ROOT, as referenced, appears to be a framework, concept, or product that requires detailed and accessible documentation for its users. This project will ensure that users can access, navigate, and utilize ROOT's documentation seamlessly across platforms.

The goal is to create a user-friendly, visually appealing, and technically robust platform that caters to a wide range of users, from beginners to advanced professionals. Given the project's scope, it will leverage modern technologies and design principles to deliver an exceptional user experience.

This document outlines the system requirements for the regal-documentation project, ensuring clarity and alignment with the project's objectives.

2. System Overview

The regal-documentation system will consist of two primary components:

  1. Mobile Application: A responsive and intuitive mobile app designed for on-the-go access to ROOT's documentation.
  2. Website: A fully-featured web platform offering in-depth documentation, search capabilities, and interactive features.

Both platforms will:

  • Provide a centralized repository for ROOT's documentation.
  • Offer search and filtering capabilities to quickly locate specific information.
  • Support user authentication for personalized experiences.
  • Include features for bookmarking, annotations, and sharing content.

The system will be designed with scalability, accessibility, and performance in mind, ensuring a seamless experience for users in Nigeria (NG) and beyond.

3. Functional Requirements

As User:

  • I should be able to access ROOT's full documentation.
  • I should be able to search for specific topics or keywords within the documentation.
  • I should be able to bookmark sections for quick access later.
  • I should be able to annotate or add notes to specific parts of the documentation.
  • I should be able to share documentation links with others.

As Admin:

  • I should be able to upload, edit, and manage documentation content.
  • I should be able to view user analytics (e.g., most accessed sections, search trends).
  • I should be able to manage user accounts and permissions.

As Guest:

  • I should be able to view public sections of the documentation without logging in.
  • I should be able to search for topics but not bookmark or annotate.

4. User Personas

1. Admin

  • Role: Manages the documentation content and oversees user activities.
  • Needs: Tools for content management, analytics, and user account control.

2. Registered User

  • Role: Regular user who accesses documentation for learning or reference.
• Needs: Personalized features like bookmarks, annotations, and sharing options.

3. Guest User

  • Role: Occasional visitor exploring ROOT's documentation.
  • Needs: Basic access to public documentation and search functionality.

5. Visuals Colors and Theme

The regal-documentation project will adopt a unique and modern color palette that reflects professionalism, accessibility, and innovation.

Color Palette:

  • Background: #F5F5FA (soft lavender white)
  • Surface: #FFFFFF (pure white)
  • Text: #2C2C54 (deep navy blue)
  • Accent: #FF6F61 (vibrant coral)
  • Muted Tones: #A1A1B5 (soft gray-blue)

This palette ensures readability, visual appeal, and a professional tone suitable for documentation platforms.

6. Signature Design Concept

The regal-documentation homepage will feature an interactive "living library" design.

Concept Details:

  • Visuals: The homepage will resemble a modern library with animated bookshelves. Each "book" represents a section of the documentation. Hovering over a book will display its title and a brief description.
  • Interaction: Users can "pull" a book from the shelf by clicking on it, which will open the corresponding documentation section in a smooth sliding animation.
  • Animations: Subtle animations will bring the library to life, such as books gently swaying or glowing when hovered over.
  • Transitions: Smooth transitions between sections will mimic the turning of a page in a book.
  • Micro-Interactions: Clicking on icons (e.g., search, bookmark) will trigger delightful animations, such as a magnifying glass zooming in or a bookmark ribbon folding into place.

This design will make the platform memorable and engaging, encouraging users to explore ROOT's documentation further.

7. Non-Functional Requirements

  • Performance: The system must load pages within 2 seconds on average.
  • Scalability: The platform should support up to 10,000 concurrent users.
  • Accessibility: The system must comply with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.
  • Localization: The platform should support English as the primary language, with the potential for future localization.
  • Security: User data must be encrypted, and the system must comply with GDPR and Nigerian Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).
