prism-page System Requirements Document

Introduction

The purpose of this document is to outline the system requirements for the "prism-page" project. The project aims to develop a single-page to-do application with a minimal design, focusing on simplicity and efficiency for task management.

System Overview

The "prism-page" project is designed to provide users with a streamlined and efficient way to manage their tasks. The application will be a single-page app, ensuring quick access and interaction without the need for navigating through multiple pages. The minimal design will enhance user focus and reduce distractions, making task management straightforward and effective.

Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should be able to add new tasks.
  • As a User, I should be able to view all tasks in a list.
  • As a User, I should be able to mark tasks as complete.
  • As a User, I should be able to delete tasks.

User Personas

  • User: The primary user of the application who will manage tasks. They require a simple interface to add, view, complete, and delete tasks.

Visuals Colors and Theme

  • primary: #4A90E2 (a calming blue for the main interface elements)
  • primary_light: #A6C8F0 (a lighter blue for hover states and secondary UI)
  • secondary: #E94E77 (a vibrant pink for headlines and emphasis)
  • accent: #F5A623 (a bright orange for CTAs and active states)
  • highlight: #F8E71C (a warm yellow for hover states and notifications)
  • bg: #FFFFFF (a clean white for the page background)
  • surface: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.9) (a slightly transparent white for cards/panels)
  • text: #333333 (a dark gray for primary text)
  • text_muted: #777777 (a softer gray for secondary text)
  • border: rgba(200, 200, 200, 0.5) (a subtle gray for borders)

Signature Design Concept

The homepage of the "prism-page" will feature an interactive "Task Canvas" where tasks appear as sticky notes on a virtual corkboard. Users can drag and drop these notes to reorder them, providing a tactile and engaging experience. The notes will have subtle animations using framer-motion to enhance the feeling of interaction, such as a slight bounce when dropped into place. The background will subtly shift colors throughout the day, using gsap for smooth transitions, creating a dynamic and refreshing user experience.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The landing page will employ a "parallax" interaction model, providing a sense of depth and engagement as users scroll. The task canvas will remain static for clarity, but the background will have layered elements that move at different speeds to create a visually rich first impression. Internal pages, if any, will maintain a "static" model to prioritize readability and speed.

Non-Functional Requirements

  • The application should load within 2 seconds on a standard broadband connection.
  • The interface should be responsive and accessible on both desktop and mobile devices.
  • The system should handle up to 10,000 tasks without performance degradation.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Python with FastAPI
  • Database: MySQL or MariaDB, using Alembic for migrations
  • Local Orchestration: Docker, docker-compose

Assumptions and Constraints

  • The application will be used primarily in India, so it should consider local timezone settings (IST).
  • The design will prioritize minimalism, avoiding complex features like task categories or priorities.

Glossary

  • Task Canvas: The main interactive area where tasks are displayed and managed.
  • Parallax: A design technique where background images move slower than foreground images, creating an illusion of depth.
  • Sticky Notes: Visual elements representing tasks, designed to look like physical sticky notes on a corkboard.
