System Requirements Document (SRD)

Project Name: prime-pregnancy

1. Introduction

The prime-pregnancy project is a comprehensive application designed to support expecting mothers throughout their pregnancy journey. This app will provide tools for tracking, tips, reminders, and a user-friendly dashboard to ensure a seamless and supportive experience. Developed with Sarah Emily Johnson in mind, the app will cater to users in the UK, incorporating locale-specific defaults such as British English, GMT timezone, and GBP currency where applicable.

2. System Overview

The prime-pregnancy app aims to be a one-stop solution for expecting mothers. It will include features such as:

  • Pregnancy tracking tools to monitor progress week by week.
  • Daily and weekly tips tailored to the user's pregnancy stage.
  • Customizable reminders for appointments, medication, hydration, and exercise.
  • A visually appealing and intuitive dashboard to centralize all key information.

The app will prioritize accessibility, ease of use, and a calming aesthetic to provide a stress-free user experience.

6. Signature Design Concept

Interactive Growth Timeline
The homepage of the prime-pregnancy app will feature an interactive growth timeline that visually represents the baby’s development week by week.

  • Design Details:

    • A scrollable 3D timeline where each week is represented by a glowing orb.
    • As users scroll, the orb grows larger, symbolizing the baby’s development.
    • Clicking on an orb will display detailed information about that week, including baby size comparisons (e.g., "Your baby is now the size of a peach!") and relevant tips.
    • Subtle animations, such as floating particles and gentle color transitions, will create a magical, immersive experience.
  • Micro-interactions:

    • Haptic feedback for mobile users when interacting with the timeline.
    • Smooth transitions between weeks with soft sound effects (e.g., a heartbeat sound when reaching a new milestone).

This feature will make the app instantly captivating and provide users with a sense of connection to their baby’s growth.

7. Non-Functional Requirements

  • The app must load within 3 seconds on a standard 4G connection.
  • The system should support a minimum of 10,000 concurrent users.
  • Data must be encrypted to ensure user privacy and comply with GDPR regulations.
  • The app should be accessible to users with disabilities, adhering to WCAG 2.1 AA standards.

8. Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web, React Native for Mobile App
  • Backend: Python with FastAPI
  • Database: MySQL (using Alembic for migrations)
  • AI Models: GPT 5.2 for user-friendly responses, Claude 4.5 Opas for academic or coding work
  • AI Tools: Langchain, Litellm for LLM Routing
  • Orchestration: Docker, docker-compose for local; Kubernetes for server-side

9. Assumptions and Constraints

  • The app will initially target users in the UK, with potential expansion to other regions later.
  • The app will be available in English only at launch.
  • Users will require an internet connection to access most features.
  • Development will prioritize mobile platforms (iOS and Android) before web.

10. Glossary

  • GDPR: General Data Protection Regulation, a legal framework for data protection in the EU and UK.
  • WCAG: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, standards for making web content accessible.
  • Haptic Feedback: A tactile response provided by a device to simulate touch.
  • LLM: Large Language Model, an AI model designed to process and generate human-like text.
