System Requirements Document for poultry-farm-management

1. Introduction

This document specifies the system requirements for poultry-farm-management, a modern, simple and professional Poultry Farm Management App that helps poultry farmers manage their farms, track birds, monitor performance and make better farming decisions.

The product serves small and commercial poultry farmers, the farm managers and workers who carry out day-to-day data capture on their behalf, and buyers or ordering customers who need current poultry prices and availability. The app is mobile-first, uses\x20\xe2\x82\xa6 Nigerian Naira by default, and is designed to work well for both small and commercial poultry farmers.

The main goal is to make poultry farming easy, give farmers full control of their farm, help them detect problems early, keep accurate records, and give them access to important poultry price updates in one app.

2. System Overview

The system is a mobile-first application with a bottom navigation bar fixed to Home | My Farm | Records | Prices | More. It combines farm and flock record keeping, a performance dashboard, vaccination and medication tracking with reminders, early problem detection, feed management, egg production tracking, finance and records with simple reports, poultry price list updates with push notifications, a marketplace for orders and booking requests, poultry education, and a unified notifications area.

Actors are the Poultry Farmer, the Farm Manager / Farm Worker, and the Buyer / Ordering Customer. The application owns identity: users complete self-service enrollment before creating or using an application account, and returning users verify through Login. Farm Manager / Farm Worker access to a farmer's shared operational records requires authorization by the relevant farm owner. Protected farm, financial, notification, and order state is persisted and executed on the backend. Price-list, reminder, performance, feed, and order notifications are produced by background automation and delivered as push notifications.

2a. Product Interpretation and Delivery Boundary

The app is delivered as a first-party mobile-first application with its own account system. Anonymous visitors can reach the public entry surface (Home), the Prices destination, the Education destination, and the More destination. Private farm, financial, notification, and order state is only available after identity is established: new users enroll through Sign Up, returning users verify through Login. Farm Manager / Farm Worker access to a farm owner's shared operational records is granted by that farm owner's authorization.

All current features listed in the authoritative requirement thread are in scope for the current delivery horizon. No future-horizon features were requested; nothing in this document is deferred.

2b. Source Content Inventory

No reference directive with content_source authority was supplied. This section is intentionally omitted.

7. Signature Design Concept

"The Farm Card Stack." The public entry surface (Home) opens on a vertically stacked set of farm cards that reads like a well-kept farm ledger brought to life. The top card is the flock summary — birds currently available rendered as a large tabular numeral in deep poultry-green on a white card with a subtle grain-amber top rule. Beneath it, compact metric cards for mortality, feed usage, average weight, egg production, expenses, income and profit sit in a two-column grid, each with a small line chart drawn in the accent token. A single alert ribbon in warning or danger colour sits above the stack when an important alert exists, and tapping it opens the owning destination. Anonymous visitors see the same stack in a preview state with a clear sign-in or sign-up affordance, so the product's purpose is legible before identity is established. The bottom navigation bar is a fixed, high-contrast strip with clear icons for Home, My Farm, Records, Prices and More. The concept only recomposes accepted content, states and controls; it introduces no new behaviour, page or destination.

8. Interaction Model & Motion Direction

No CREATIVE DIRECTION block was supplied. The tempo is chosen for the audience: poultry farmers and farm workers often check the app in the field, one-handed, in bright light, so motion is restrained and never delays reading a number.

Interaction Model: Animated Motion Tempo: restrained Hero Dimensionality: layered_2d

Landing Hero Motion Brief

  • Focal subject: The farm card stack on Home — the flock summary card with its large birds-currently-available numeral, the metric grid beneath it, and the alert ribbon above it.
  • Input → transformation → outcome thesis: On load, the metric cards rise and settle into place in a short staggered sequence, and each chart line draws from left to right; the outcome is a fully composed, readable farm summary within roughly 600 ms, with the alert ribbon arriving first so the most important state is seen before the numbers.
  • Motion vocabulary: Short staggered card entrance (120 ms offset, 240 ms duration, ease-out), chart line draw-on (400 ms), alert ribbon slide-down (200 ms), number count-up on metric values (300 ms, tabular figures so width never shifts).
  • Composed first frame: The alert ribbon already in place at the top, the flock summary card fully rendered with its final numeral, and the metric grid below at 40% opacity mid-rise — so the first frame is already informative rather than empty.
  • Reduced-motion state: All entrance, draw-on and count-up motion is removed; the fully composed stack renders immediately with final values and no transitions.

9. Non-Functional Requirements

  • NFR-1 — Mobile-first interface (explicit): The interface is designed mobile-first, with layouts, touch targets and navigation sized for phone use.
  • NFR-2 — Clean and easy-to-use with a professional agricultural/poultry look (explicit): The visual language is clean, uncluttered and professional, using the agricultural/poultry palette and imagery defined in Section 6.
  • NFR-3 — Simple navigation, clear icons, cards and charts (explicit): Navigation is simple, icons are clear and unambiguous, and information is presented in cards and charts.
  • NFR-4 — Bottom navigation (explicit): The bottom navigation bar is exactly Home | My Farm | Records | Prices | More and is present across the app's primary destinations.
  • NFR-5 —\x20\xe2\x82\xa6 Nigerian Naira by default (explicit): All monetary values are displayed in\x20\xe2\x82\xa6 Nigerian Naira by default.
  • NFR-6 — Small and commercial farms (explicit): The app works well for both small and commercial poultry farmers, scaling from a single flock to multiple farms, houses and flocks.
  • NFR-7 — Backend persistence and execution (required_inference): Protected farm, financial, notification and order state is persisted and executed on the backend so records are durable across sessions and devices.
  • NFR-8 — Background automation and push delivery (required_inference): Price-list, reminder, performance, feed and order notifications are produced by background automation and delivered as push notifications.
  • NFR-9 — Identity and session continuity (required_inference): Application-owned identity is required so that farm, financial, notification and order state remains bound to the correct participant across sessions.

10. Tech Stack

  • Client: React Native for the mobile-first application, delivering the bottom navigation, cards, charts and push-notification handling on iOS and Android.
  • Backend: Python with FastAPI for the API serving farm, flock, health, monitoring, feed, egg, finance, price, marketplace, education and notification state.
  • Storage: A relational database for farms, houses, flocks, bird records, treatment records, feed records, egg records, financial records, price lists, listings, orders and notifications.
  • Background automation: A scheduled worker for price-list release notifications, vaccination and medication reminders, feed low-stock alerts, farm performance alerts and order updates, with push delivery to devices.
  • Deployment: Docker and docker-compose for local and single-host deployment. Kubernetes is not required by any source-stated constraint and is therefore not included.

11. Assumptions and Constraints

  • Assumption: The app is delivered as a mobile-first application with a first-party account system, because self-service enrollment and returning-user verification are required for the accepted journeys to be executable.
  • Assumption: Farm Manager / Farm Worker access to a farm's shared operational records is granted by the relevant farm owner; no other permission model is established by the source.
  • Assumption: Price lists are published into the app by an authorized publisher, and the app displays the latest published list with its date updated.
  • Assumption: Marketplace listings are supplied by sellers, and order updates are delivered to the ordering customer.
  • Constraint: Bottom navigation is exactly Home | My Farm | Records | Prices | More.
  • Constraint: All monetary values use\x20\xe2\x82\xa6 Nigerian Naira by default.
  • Constraint: The interface is mobile-first, clean and easy-to-use, with a professional agricultural/poultry look, simple navigation, clear icons, cards and charts.
  • Constraint: The app must work well for both small and commercial poultry farmers.
  • Constraint: No future-horizon features were requested; all requirements in this document are current.
