System Requirements Document (SRD)

Project Title: Orbit-Web

1. Introduction

Welcome to the System Requirements Document (SRD) for Orbit-Web, a web-based application designed to meet the needs of Rashid Husain and his team in Saudi Arabia. This document outlines the technical and functional requirements for the project, ensuring clarity and alignment with the project's goals. Orbit-Web is envisioned as a robust, user-friendly platform tailored to Rashid's specifications, with a focus on efficiency, scalability, and a unique design identity.

2. System Overview

Orbit-Web is a web application designed to streamline operations, enhance user engagement, and provide a seamless experience for all stakeholders. The system will cater to multiple user personas, including administrators, registered users, and guests, ensuring that each user type has access to the tools and features they need.

The application will leverage modern technologies such as React for the frontend, Python with FastAPI for the backend, and MySQL/MariaDB for relational database management. It will also incorporate AI models like GPT 5.4 for user-friendly responses and Google Nano Banana for image generation, ensuring cutting-edge functionality and interactivity.

Orbit-Web will be designed with a focus on localization, taking into account Saudi Arabian standards, including currency (SAR), timezone (Arabian Standard Time), and cultural preferences.

3. Functional Requirements

Story Points:

  • As Admin, I should be able to manage user accounts, including creating, editing, and deleting users.
  • As User, I should be able to register, log in, and update my profile information.
  • As Guest, I should be able to browse the website and access publicly available content.
  • As Admin, I should be able to generate detailed reports on user activity and system performance.
  • As User, I should be able to upload and manage my content, including images and text.
  • As Guest, I should be able to contact support via a simple form.
  • As Admin, I should be able to configure system settings, including localization options.
  • As User, I should be able to search and filter content using advanced search tools.
  • As Admin, I should be able to monitor system logs and troubleshoot issues.

4. User Personas

1. Admin

  • Role: System administrator responsible for managing the platform.
  • Responsibilities: User management, system configuration, report generation, and troubleshooting.

2. User

  • Role: Registered user with access to personalized features.
  • Responsibilities: Profile management, content upload, and interaction with other users.

3. Guest

  • Role: Unregistered visitor with limited access.
  • Responsibilities: Browsing publicly available content and contacting support.

5. Visuals Colors and Theme

Color Palette:

  • Background: #F5F5F5 (Soft Pearl White)
  • Surface: #EAE7DC (Warm Beige)
  • Text: #333333 (Deep Charcoal)
  • Accent: #FF6F61 (Vibrant Coral)
  • Muted Tones: #B2B2B2 (Soft Gray)

This palette reflects a professional yet approachable aesthetic, aligning with Orbit-Web's identity as a modern and user-friendly platform.

6. Signature Design Concept

Interactive Galaxy Map Homepage

The homepage of Orbit-Web will feature an interactive galaxy map, where each star represents a feature or section of the website. Upon hovering over a star, users will see a brief description of the feature, and clicking on it will zoom into the section, transitioning seamlessly into the relevant page.

Key Features:

  • Dynamic Animations: Stars twinkle subtly, creating a sense of depth and wonder.
  • Color Shifts: The galaxy's background morphs colors based on the time of day, transitioning from a deep blue at night to a soft lavender in the morning.
  • Micro-Interactions: Stars pulsate slightly when hovered over, providing tactile feedback.
  • User Engagement: A "Search the Galaxy" bar allows users to type keywords and navigate directly to features.

This design will make Orbit-Web instantly fascinating and memorable, ensuring a strong first impression.

7. Non-Functional Requirements

  • Performance: The system must load pages within 2 seconds under normal conditions.
  • Scalability: The architecture should support up to 10,000 concurrent users.
  • Security: Implement SSL encryption, secure authentication, and regular vulnerability assessments.
  • Localization: Support for Arabic and English languages, with currency set to SAR.
  • Accessibility: Ensure WCAG 2.1 compliance for users with disabilities.

8. Tech Stack

9. Assumptions and Constraints

Assumptions:

  • Users will have access to modern browsers that support HTML5 and CSS3.
  • The system will primarily be accessed from Saudi Arabia, with localization tailored accordingly.

Constraints:

  • The system must operate within the limitations of browser-based storage for offline functionality.
  • Development must adhere to the specified tech stack to ensure compatibility and maintainability.

10. Glossary

  • SAR: Saudi Riyal, the currency of Saudi Arabia.
  • WCAG: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, standards for accessible web design.
  • IndexedDB: A low-level API for client-side storage of significant amounts of structured data.
  • Alembic: A lightweight database migration tool for use with SQLAlchemy.
  • Docker: A platform for developing, shipping, and running applications in containers.

This document serves as the foundation for the development of Orbit-Web, ensuring alignment with Rashid Husain's vision and requirements.
