nova-cars System Requirements Document

1. Introduction

The "nova-cars" project is designed to be a comprehensive platform for car enthusiasts, buyers, and reviewers. It will provide the latest updates on cars, future releases, detailed comparisons, and pricing information. The platform aims to serve as a reliable source of information and a community hub for anyone interested in the automotive industry.

2. System Overview

The nova-cars platform will be a web-based application that offers users the ability to view car updates, compare different car models, and access detailed pricing and feature information. The system will include interactive features such as user reviews and personalized car recommendations to enhance user engagement and satisfaction.

3. Functional Requirements

  • As a Car Buyer, I should be able to view the latest car updates and future releases.
  • As a Car Reviewer, I should be able to compare different car models based on their features and prices.
  • As a User, I should be able to read and write reviews for different car models.
  • As a User, I should be able to receive personalized car recommendations based on my preferences.

4. User Personas

  • Car Buyer: Interested in purchasing cars and looking for detailed information on pricing and features.
  • Car Reviewer: Provides expert opinions and comparisons on different car models.
  • General User: Enthusiast or potential buyer seeking information on cars, including updates and reviews.

5. Visuals Colors and Theme

  • primary: #1A73E8 (a deep, vibrant blue to represent trust and reliability)
  • primary_light: #4D90FE (a lighter blue for hover states and secondary UI elements)
  • secondary: #FF6F61 (a coral hue for headlines and emphasis)
  • accent: #FFD700 (a bright gold for call-to-action buttons and active states)
  • highlight: #FFA500 (an orange for hover states and notifications)
  • bg: #F5F5F5 (a light grey for the page background)
  • surface: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.9) (a soft white for card/panel backgrounds)
  • text: #333333 (a dark grey for primary text)
  • text_muted: #777777 (a muted grey for secondary text and labels)
  • border: rgba(200, 200, 200, 0.5) (a subtle grey for borders)

6. Signature Design Concept

The nova-cars homepage will feature an interactive 3D car showroom using @react-three/fiber and @react-three/drei. Users can navigate through a virtual showroom where each car model is displayed as a 3D object. By clicking on a car, users can view detailed specifications, rotate the model for a 360-degree view, and access comparison tools. The showroom will have dynamic lighting effects that change based on the time of day, creating an immersive experience. Hovering over a car will highlight it with a soft glow, and clicking will trigger a smooth transition to the car's detail page.

7. Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The landing page will utilize a "parallax" interaction model, providing a layered depth effect as users scroll through the page. Decorative elements such as atmospheric lighting and floating car parts will move at different speeds to create a sense of depth. Key sections will feature scroll-triggered animations and hover transitions to engage users and guide them through the content. Internal pages, such as dashboards and settings, will adopt a "static" interaction model for clarity and ease of use.

8. Non-Functional Requirements

  • The system should be highly responsive and accessible across various devices and screen sizes.
  • The platform must ensure data security and user privacy, complying with relevant regulations.
  • The application should support high traffic volumes without performance degradation.

9. Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Python, FastAPI
  • Database: MySQL or MariaDB with alembic for migrations
  • AI Models: GPT 5.4 for user-friendly responses
  • AI Tools: Litellm for LLM Routing
  • Local Orchestration: Docker, docker-compose
  • Server-side Orchestration: Kubernetes

10. Assumptions and Constraints

  • The platform will primarily target users in Tanzania, considering local currency and timezone settings.
  • The system will need to integrate with third-party APIs for car data and user reviews.
  • Budget constraints may limit the initial scope of advanced features.

11. Glossary

  • 3D Showroom: A virtual space where users can interact with 3D models of cars.
  • Parallax: A scrolling technique that creates an illusion of depth by moving background images slower than foreground images.
  • AI Models: Artificial Intelligence models used for generating responses and recommendations.

This document outlines the system requirements for the nova-cars project, providing a foundation for the development and design phases.
