mega-page System Requirements Document

Introduction

The "mega-page" project is focused on developing a personal use, single-page todo application with a minimalistic design. This document outlines the system requirements to guide the development process.

System Overview

The mega-page application is designed to be a simple, user-friendly todo list that operates on a single page. The primary goal is to provide users with a straightforward interface for managing tasks without unnecessary complexity. The application will be optimized for personal use, ensuring quick access and a clutter-free experience.

Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should be able to add new tasks to my todo list.
  • As a User, I should be able to mark tasks as completed.
  • As a User, I should be able to delete tasks from my list.
  • As a User, I should be able to view all my tasks on a single page.

User Personas

  • User: An individual looking for a simple and efficient way to manage personal tasks on a single-page application.

Signature Design Concept

The mega-page application will feature an interactive "Task Galaxy" concept. The homepage will present tasks as stars in a galaxy, where each star represents a task. Users can click on a star to open a task card, drag to rotate the galaxy cluster, and hover to highlight connections between tasks. This interactive design will be built using @react-three/fiber for 3D rendering and gsap for smooth animations. The galaxy will provide a visually engaging and unique way to manage tasks, making the application both functional and captivating.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The landing page will utilize a "parallax" interaction model, creating a layered depth effect as users scroll through their tasks. Decorative elements will move at different speeds to enhance the storytelling aspect, while real content remains in the normal flow. This approach will ensure a visually rich first impression, perfect for a personal productivity tool.

Non-Functional Requirements

  • The application must load within 2 seconds on a standard broadband connection.
  • It should be responsive and accessible on both desktop and mobile devices.
  • The design should adhere to accessibility standards, ensuring usability for all users.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Not applicable (single-page application)
  • Database: Not applicable (local storage for task management)
  • AI Models: Not applicable
  • Local Orchestration: Docker, docker-compose

Assumptions and Constraints

  • The application is intended for personal use, so scalability is not a primary concern.
  • The design will focus on minimalism, avoiding complex features or integrations.
  • The application will rely on local storage, eliminating the need for a backend database.

Glossary

  • Single-page application: A web application that interacts with the user by dynamically rewriting the current page, rather than loading entire new pages from the server.
  • Parallax: A design technique where background images move slower than foreground images, creating an illusion of depth.
  • 3D rendering: The process of generating an image from a model by means of computer programs.
