System Requirements Document (SRD)

Project Name: magma-students

1. Introduction

The magma-students project is a comprehensive Student Management System (SMS) designed to streamline the management of student data, attendance, grades, fees, and other academic records. This system will cater to teachers, administrators, students, and parents, offering a fully responsive design to ensure accessibility across devices, including desktops, tablets, and mobile phones.

The primary goal of the project is to simplify administrative tasks, improve communication between stakeholders, and provide students and parents with a clear view of academic progress and attendance. Developed with a robust frontend-backend structure, magma-students will serve as a reliable tool for educational institutions in India, aligning with local requirements, such as Indian Standard Time (IST) and INR currency format.

5. Visuals Colors and Theme

Unique Color Palette for magma-students:

  • Background: #E8F4FA (Light Aqua Blue)
  • Surface: #FFFFFF (Pure White)
  • Text: #34495E (Steel Gray)
  • Accent: #F39C12 (Golden Amber)
  • Muted Tones: #BDC3C7 (Soft Silver Gray)

This palette reflects a modern, professional, and approachable aesthetic, suitable for an educational platform. The colors are chosen to ensure readability and visual comfort for users across all devices.

6. Signature Design Concept

The magma-students homepage will feature a dynamic, interactive classroom interface that sets the tone for the platform.

Concept Details:

  • Visuals: The homepage will resemble a virtual classroom, complete with animated desks, a digital chalkboard, and interactive elements.
  • Interactions: Users can click on desks to explore different features (e.g., attendance, grades, fees). The chalkboard will display system highlights with animated chalk writing.
  • Transitions: Smooth animations will transition between sections, mimicking the effect of moving between classroom zones.
  • Micro-interactions: Hover effects will resemble subtle movements of classroom objects, such as books opening or pens rolling.
  • Additional Features: A subtle background animation of sunlight streaming through classroom windows will create a warm and inviting ambiance.

This design will evoke a sense of engagement and familiarity while maintaining a modern, professional look, making the platform memorable and user-friendly.

7. Non-Functional Requirements

  • Performance: The system should load within 2 seconds on standard broadband connections.
  • Scalability: Support up to 15,000 concurrent users.
  • Security: Implement role-based access control (RBAC) and encrypt sensitive data.
  • Localization: Default to Indian Standard Time (IST) and INR currency format where applicable.
  • Accessibility: Comply with WCAG 2.1 AA standards for accessibility.
