Jungle-Page System Requirements Document

Introduction

The project "Jungle-Page" is focused on developing a minimalistic, single-page todo application designed for personal use. The application aims to provide a straightforward checklist experience without additional features like categories or tags, ensuring simplicity and ease of use.

System Overview

The Jungle-Page application will be a web-based platform that allows users to manage their tasks efficiently on a single page. The primary goal is to maintain a clean and intuitive user interface that enhances user experience by minimizing distractions and focusing on core functionality.

Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should be able to add new tasks to my todo list.
  • As a User, I should be able to mark tasks as completed.
  • As a User, I should be able to delete tasks from my list.
  • As a User, I should be able to view all my tasks on a single page.

User Personas

  • User: An individual looking for a simple and effective way to manage personal tasks without the complexity of additional features.

  • primary_light: #A8DADC (a lighter tint of teal for hover states)
  • secondary: #E76F51 (a warm coral for emphasis)
  • accent: #F4A261 (a vibrant orange for CTAs and active states)
  • highlight: #FFB703 (a bright amber for notifications and active indicators)
  • bg: #F1FAEE (a soft, off-white background)
  • surface: rgba(233, 233, 233, 0.8) (a light grey for card backgrounds)
  • text: #264653 (a deep blue for primary text)
  • text_muted: #6D6875 (a muted grey for secondary text)
  • border: rgba(38, 70, 83, 0.2) (a subtle teal border)

Signature Design Concept

The Jungle-Page will feature an interactive "Task Garden" concept. The homepage will resemble a serene garden where each task is represented as a plant. Users can "plant" new tasks, and as they complete them, the plants will "bloom" with animations. This concept will use framer-motion for smooth animations and transitions. Hovering over a task will cause it to gently sway, and clicking on a task will trigger a blooming animation, providing a satisfying visual cue for task completion. This interactive garden will make task management a delightful experience.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The interaction model for the Jungle-Page will be "animated." The single-page design will incorporate moderate scroll-triggered reveals and hover transitions to enhance user engagement. The "Task Garden" will feature spring physics on interactive elements, providing a polished and dynamic user experience.

Non-Functional Requirements

  • The application must load within 2 seconds on a standard broadband connection.
  • The user interface should be responsive and accessible on both desktop and mobile devices.
  • The application should support the latest versions of major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge).

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Python with FastAPI
  • Database: MySQL or MariaDB, using Alembic for migrations
  • Local Orchestration: Docker, docker-compose

Assumptions and Constraints

  • The application is intended for personal use and will not require user authentication or multi-user support.
  • The design will prioritize simplicity and ease of use over advanced features.
  • The application will be developed and tested in the Indian locale, considering local time zones and currency formats where applicable.

Glossary

  • Task Garden: A visual metaphor used in the application where tasks are represented as plants.
  • Single-page application: A web application that interacts with the user by dynamically rewriting the current page rather than loading entire new pages from the server.
  • Framer-motion: A library used for creating animations in React applications.
