jade-start System Requirements Document

Introduction

The purpose of this document is to outline the system requirements for the "jade-start" project. This project aims to develop a simple single-page application (SPA) tailored to the needs of users in India, ensuring a streamlined and efficient user experience.

System Overview

The jade-start project is designed to be a minimalistic single-page application that provides users with a seamless and intuitive interface. The application will focus on delivering core functionalities without the complexity of multi-page navigation, ensuring quick load times and a responsive design.

Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should be able to access all features from a single page without needing to navigate to other pages.
  • As a User, I should be able to view content dynamically loaded on the same page to enhance performance and user experience.
  • As a User, I should be able to interact with the application through a simple and intuitive interface.

User Personas

  • User: The primary persona for this application. Users are individuals looking for a straightforward and efficient way to interact with the application without the need for complex navigation.

Core User Flows

  • User accesses the application -> views content dynamically loaded on the same page -> interacts with features directly on the page.

Visuals Colors and Theme

  • primary: #2A9D8F (a calming teal)
  • primary_light: #A8DADC (a lighter tint of teal for hover states)
  • secondary: #E76F51 (a contrasting coral for emphasis)
  • accent: #F4A261 (a vibrant orange for CTAs and active states)
  • highlight: #FFA07A (a warm salmon for notifications)
  • bg: #F1FAEE (a soft off-white for the background)
  • surface: rgba(42, 157, 143, 0.8) (a semi-transparent teal for panels)
  • text: #264653 (a deep blue for primary text)
  • text_muted: #6D6875 (a muted lavender for secondary text)
  • border: rgba(38, 70, 83, 0.2) (a subtle border color)

Signature Design Concept

The jade-start application will feature an interactive "Living Canvas" homepage. This concept involves a dynamic background that subtly shifts colors based on user interactions, creating a sense of movement and engagement. Users can click and drag elements on the page, causing ripples of color to spread across the canvas, providing a visually stimulating experience. This will be implemented using framer-motion for smooth animations and gsap for color transitions.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The landing page will employ a "parallax" interaction model, creating a sense of depth and immersion as users scroll. Layers of content will move at different speeds, enhancing the storytelling aspect of the application. Internal pages will maintain a "static" interaction model to ensure clarity and focus on content.

Non-Functional Requirements

  • The application must load within 2 seconds on a standard broadband connection.
  • The application should be responsive and function seamlessly across all major browsers and devices.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Python with FastAPI
  • Database: MySQL or MariaDB, using alembic for migrations
  • Local orchestration: Docker, docker-compose

Assumptions and Constraints

  • The application will primarily serve users in India, considering local preferences and internet speeds.
  • The design will focus on simplicity and ease of use, avoiding complex features that detract from the single-page experience.

Glossary

  • SPA: Single Page Application
  • CTA: Call to Action
  • Responsive Design: An approach to web design that makes web pages render well on a variety of devices and window or screen sizes.

This document outlines the requirements and design considerations for the jade-start project, ensuring a focused and user-friendly single-page application.
