infini-calculator System Requirements Document

Introduction

The "infini-calculator" project aims to develop a single-page, minimalistic calculator application. The focus is on simplicity and ease of use, allowing users to perform basic arithmetic calculations quickly and without distractions.

System Overview

The infini-calculator is designed to be a web-based application that provides users with a straightforward interface for performing basic arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The application will be responsive, ensuring usability across various devices and screen sizes.

Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should be able to perform basic arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • As a User, I should be able to clear the current input.
  • As a User, I should be able to view the result of my calculations instantly.

User Personas

  • User: The primary user of the infini-calculator is anyone needing to perform basic arithmetic calculations quickly and efficiently. This includes students, professionals, and everyday users.

Visuals Colors and Theme

  • primary: #2A9D8F (a calming teal)
  • primary_light: #A8DADC (a lighter teal for hover states)
  • secondary: #E76F51 (a contrasting coral for emphasis)
  • accent: #F4A261 (a vibrant orange for CTAs and active states)
  • highlight: #E9C46A (a warm yellow for notifications and active indicators)
  • bg: #F1FAEE (a soft off-white for the background)
  • surface: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.8) (a translucent white for panels)
  • text: #264653 (a deep blue for primary text)
  • text_muted: #6D6875 (a muted gray for secondary text)
  • border: rgba(38, 70, 83, 0.2) (a subtle teal border)

Signature Design Concept

The infini-calculator will feature an interactive "floating keypad" design. Upon loading the page, users will see a minimalist interface with a keypad that appears to float above the background. As users hover over the keys, they will gently rise and cast a soft shadow, creating a tactile experience. The keys will respond to clicks with a subtle animation, providing immediate feedback. This concept will be implemented using framer-motion for smooth animations and spring physics.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The landing page will utilize an "animated" interaction model. The calculator interface will feature moderate hover transitions and spring physics on interactive elements, ensuring a polished and responsive user experience. Internal pages, if any, will maintain a "static" interaction model to prioritize clarity and speed.

Non-Functional Requirements

  • The application must load within 2 seconds on a standard broadband connection.
  • The calculator should be accessible and usable on both desktop and mobile devices.
  • The design should adhere to accessibility standards, ensuring usability for all users.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Not applicable (client-side application)
  • Database: Not applicable
  • AI Models: Not applicable
  • Local orchestration: Docker (for development environment)

Assumptions and Constraints

  • The calculator will only support basic arithmetic functions.
  • The application will be a single-page application with no server-side components.
  • The design will prioritize minimalism and ease of use.

Glossary

  • Arithmetic Operations: Basic mathematical operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Responsive Design: An approach to web design that makes web pages render well on a variety of devices and window or screen sizes.
  • Single-Page Application (SPA): A web application that interacts with the user by dynamically rewriting the current page rather than loading entire new pages from the server.
