System Requirements Document (SRD)

Project Name: Indigo-Plugin

1. Introduction

The Indigo-Plugin project is a website designed to provide free plugins for professional video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and other popular editing tools. The website aims to cater specifically to professional editors, offering a streamlined experience for discovering, downloading, and learning about plugins.

This document outlines the system requirements for the Indigo-Plugin project, ensuring clarity and alignment with the goals set forth by Krijen Soni, the project owner.

2. System Overview

The Indigo-Plugin website will serve as a hub for professional editors seeking high-quality, free plugins. It will feature:

  • Categorization of plugins by supported software (e.g., Premiere Pro, After Effects).
  • Advanced filtering options to refine searches by plugin type (e.g., effects, transitions) and popularity.
  • Tutorials to guide users on how to use the plugins effectively.
  • A user dashboard for tracking favorites and downloads, enhancing personalization and engagement.

The platform will prioritize user-friendly navigation, professional aesthetics, and robust functionality to meet the needs of its target audience.

3. Functional Requirements

As story points:

  • As a Professional Editor, I should be able to browse plugins categorized by software (e.g., Premiere Pro, After Effects).
  • As a Professional Editor, I should be able to filter plugins by type (e.g., effects, transitions) and popularity.
  • As a Professional Editor, I should be able to access tutorials for each plugin.
  • As a Professional Editor, I should be able to create a user account to track favorites and downloads.
  • As a Professional Editor, I should be able to view and manage my dashboard for personalized plugin tracking.

4. User Personas

1. Professional Editor

  • Description: Experienced individuals working in video editing for film, television, or digital media.
  • Goals: Enhance editing workflows with high-quality plugins, learn new techniques via tutorials, and manage favorite tools efficiently.
  • Pain Points: Difficulty finding reliable free plugins, lack of tutorials, and limited personalization options.

5. Visuals Colors and Theme

Color Palette:

  • primary: #4B0082 (Deep Indigo)
  • primary_light: #7A5BAF (Light Indigo for hover states and secondary UI)

6. Signature Design Concept

Concept Name: Interactive Plugin Galaxy

The homepage will feature an interactive galaxy map where each star represents a plugin. Users can:

  • Hover over stars to reveal plugin names and brief descriptions.
  • Click on a star to open a detailed plugin page with download links, tutorials, and user reviews.
  • Drag the galaxy to explore different clusters representing software categories (e.g., Premiere Pro, After Effects).
  • Zoom in and out to focus on specific plugin clusters or view the entire galaxy.

The galaxy will be rendered using @react-three/fiber and @react-three/drei for 3D interactivity, with smooth transitions powered by gsap. The design will evoke a sense of exploration and discovery, making the website unforgettable and engaging for professional editors.

7. Interaction Model & Motion Direction

Landing/Home Page Interaction Model: Parallax

The homepage will feature layered depth effects via scroll, creating a dynamic and immersive experience.

  • Decorative layers: Stars, nebulae, and plugin clusters will move at different speeds.
  • Real content: Plugin descriptions and tutorials will scroll naturally within the main flow.

Internal Pages Interaction Model: Static

For dashboards, settings, and plugin details, the interaction model will prioritize clarity and readability with minimal motion.

8. Non-Functional Requirements

  • Performance: The website must load within 3 seconds on standard broadband connections.
  • Scalability: Support up to 100,000 registered users and 1 million plugin downloads per month.
  • Accessibility: WCAG 2.1 compliance for visually impaired users.
  • Security: Implement SSL encryption, secure user authentication, and regular vulnerability scans.

9. Tech Stack

Frontend:

  • React for Web

Backend:

  • Python
  • FastAPI

Database:

  • MySQL or MariaDB (preferred for relational data)
  • MongoDB (for plugin metadata and user activity logs)

AI Models:

  • GPT 5.4 for user-friendly responses in tutorials and FAQs.

AI Tools:

  • Langchain for advanced query handling.

Local Orchestration:

  • Docker
  • docker-compose

Server-Side Orchestration:

  • Kubernetes

10. Assumptions and Constraints

  • The website will primarily target professional editors in India (IN), but it should be scalable for international users.
  • Tutorials will be provided in English, with potential localization in future updates.
  • The website will initially focus on free plugins, with potential monetization options (e.g., premium plugins) in later phases.

11. Glossary

  • Plugin: A software component that adds specific features to an existing application.
  • Dashboard: A user interface that provides personalized access to features like favorites and downloads.
  • Parallax: A design technique where background elements move at different speeds than foreground elements, creating a sense of depth.
  • WCAG: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, a standard for ensuring web accessibility.
