icy-pizza System Requirements Document

1. Introduction

The purpose of this document is to outline the system requirements for the "icy-pizza" project, a website for a pizza restaurant. This document will serve as a guide for the development team to understand the functional and non-functional requirements, user personas, core user flows, and design elements necessary to create an engaging and efficient online presence for icy-pizza.

2. System Overview

The icy-pizza project aims to develop a comprehensive website for a pizza restaurant, providing users with an intuitive and interactive platform to explore menu options, place orders, and engage with the restaurant. The website will feature a user-friendly interface, seamless navigation, and essential functionalities to enhance the customer experience.

3. Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should be able to view the menu with all available pizza options.
  • As a User, I should be able to place an order for delivery or pickup.
  • As a User, I should be able to create and manage my user profile.
  • As a User, I should be able to search for specific menu items.
  • As a User, I should be able to receive notifications about order status and promotions.
  • As an Admin, I should be able to manage menu items and prices.
  • As an Admin, I should be able to view and manage customer orders.
  • As an Admin, I should be able to access sales and customer analytics.
  • As a User, I should be able to navigate the website using a sidebar navigation panel.
  • As a User, I should be able to use the top navbar/header bar to search, view notifications, and access my user profile.

4. User Personas

  • Customer: Individuals who visit the website to explore the menu, place orders, and manage their profiles.
  • Admin: Restaurant staff responsible for managing menu items, processing orders, and analyzing sales data.

5. Core User Flows

  • Customer visits the website -> Browses the menu -> Selects items -> Places an order -> Receives confirmation and notifications.
  • Admin logs into the dashboard -> Updates menu items -> Reviews orders -> Analyzes sales data.

6. Visuals Colors and Theme

  • secondary: #4A90E2 (a cool blue for headlines and links)
  • accent: #FFC300 (a bright yellow for call-to-action buttons and badges)
  • highlight: #FFBD33 (a warm amber for hover states and notifications)
  • bg: #F7F7F7 (a light gray for the page background)
  • surface: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.9) (a soft white for card/panel backgrounds)

  • text_muted: #777777 (a muted gray for secondary text)
  • border: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.1) (a subtle border color)

7. Signature Design Concept

The icy-pizza website will feature an interactive "Pizza Builder" on the homepage. Users can drag and drop ingredients onto a virtual pizza base, watching it come to life in real-time. This feature will use @react-three/fiber for 3D rendering and framer-motion for smooth animations. The pizza builder will allow users to customize their orders visually, enhancing engagement and providing a unique ordering experience.

8. Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The landing page will utilize a "parallax" interaction model, creating a layered depth effect as users scroll. Decorative elements like pizza toppings and kitchen utensils will move at different speeds, providing a dynamic and immersive experience. Internal pages, such as the dashboard and order management, will adopt a "static" model for clarity and ease of use.

9. Non-Functional Requirements

  • The website should load within 3 seconds on a standard internet connection.
  • The system must handle up to 500 concurrent users without performance degradation.
  • The website should be accessible and usable on both desktop and mobile devices.

10. Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Python, FastAPI
  • Database: MySQL or MariaDB, using Alembic for migrations
  • AI Models: Not applicable
  • AI Tools: Not applicable
  • Local Orchestration: Docker, docker-compose
  • Server-side Orchestration: Kubernetes

11. Assumptions and Constraints

  • The website will primarily serve users in India, considering local currency (INR) and time zone (IST).
  • The system will comply with local data protection regulations.
  • The design will accommodate future scalability for additional features and user load.

12. Glossary

  • Dashboard: An interface for admins to manage the website's content and view analytics.
  • Parallax: An effect where background images move slower than foreground images, creating a sense of depth.
  • Pizza Builder: An interactive feature allowing users to customize their pizza visually.
  • React: A JavaScript library for building user interfaces.
  • FastAPI: A modern, fast (high-performance) web framework for building APIs with Python.
