System Requirements Document (SRD)

Project Name: fiery-goat

1. Introduction

The fiery-goat project is designed to revolutionize goat farming operations by providing a comprehensive digital solution tailored to the needs of farmers. This system will streamline record-keeping, improve operational efficiency, and enable better management of goats, feed, health records, and sales.

Rajkumar Lamani, based in Germany (DE), envisions this system as a tool to modernize goat farming practices while addressing locale-specific requirements such as currency (EUR), timezone (UTC+1), and regional farming standards.

2. System Overview

The fiery-goat system will serve as a centralized platform for managing goat farming operations. It will include features for inventory tracking, health monitoring, feeding schedules, and sales management. The system will be accessible via both web and mobile applications, ensuring ease of use for farmers in the field or at home.

Key objectives:

  • Simplify goat farming operations.
  • Provide real-time insights into inventory and health metrics.
  • Enable efficient sales tracking and management.
  • Support scalability for future growth.

3. Functional Requirements

Story Points:

  • As a Farmer, I should be able to track the number of goats in my inventory.
  • As a Farmer, I should be able to monitor the health records of each goat.
  • As a Farmer, I should be able to schedule feeding times and receive reminders.
  • As a Farmer, I should be able to manage feed stock inventory.
  • As a Farmer, I should be able to record and track sales of goats, milk, and meat.
  • As a Farmer, I should be able to generate reports on farm operations.
  • As a Farmer, I should be able to access the system via both web and mobile platforms.

4. User Personas

1. Farmer

Description: The primary user of the system, responsible for managing goat farming operations.
Needs:

  • Easy-to-use interface for tracking inventory, health, and sales.
  • Notifications for feeding schedules and health checkups.
  • Insights into farm performance through reports.

2. Admin

Description: A secondary user who oversees system configurations and user management.
Needs:

  • Ability to manage user accounts and permissions.
  • Access to system-wide analytics and performance metrics.

5. Visuals Colors and Theme

Color Palette:

  • Background: #F5F5DC (Beige - warm and earthy, representing farming)
  • Surface: #8B4513 (Saddle Brown - rustic and natural)
  • Text: #2F4F4F (Dark Slate Gray - professional and readable)
  • Accent: #FFD700 (Gold - vibrant and attention-grabbing for key elements)
  • Muted Tones: #C0C0C0 (Silver - subtle and complementary for secondary elements)

6. Signature Design Concept

Concept: Interactive Farm Dashboard

The homepage of the fiery-goat system will feature an interactive farm dashboard designed to resemble a digital farm map. Users will see a visual representation of their farm, with clickable icons for each section (e.g., goat pens, feed storage, health clinic).

Details:

  • Animations: Icons will subtly pulse to indicate activity (e.g., feeding schedules, health alerts).
  • Transitions: Smooth zoom-in and zoom-out effects when navigating between sections.
  • Color Shifts: The background will transition from day to night based on the user's local time, creating a dynamic and immersive experience.
  • Micro-interactions: Hovering over icons will display quick stats (e.g., number of goats, feed stock levels).
  • User Interaction: Drag-and-drop functionality for rearranging farm sections or scheduling tasks.

This bold design will make the system visually engaging and intuitive, ensuring farmers feel connected to their operations.

7. Non-Functional Requirements

  • Performance: The system must load within 2 seconds for all major functionalities.
  • Scalability: Support up to 10,000 goats and associated data records without performance degradation.
  • Security: Implement robust authentication and encryption to protect sensitive farm data.
  • Availability: Ensure 99.9% uptime for critical operations.
  • Localization: Support German language and EUR currency by default.

8. Tech Stack

Frontend:

  • React for Web
  • React Native for Mobile

Backend:

  • Python
  • FastAPI

Database:

  • MySQL or MariaDB (preferred for RDBMS)
  • MongoDB (for NoSQL needs)

AI Models:

  • GPT 5.4 for user-friendly responses
  • Claude 4.6 Opas for coding and academic tasks

AI Tools:

  • Litellm for LLM Routing
  • Langchain

Orchestration:

  • Docker and docker-compose for local development
  • Kubernetes for server-side orchestration

9. Assumptions and Constraints

Assumptions:

  • Farmers will have basic familiarity with smartphones and web applications.
  • Internet connectivity will be available in most farming areas.
  • The system will primarily target goat farming operations in Germany.

Constraints:

  • The system must comply with EU data protection regulations (GDPR).
  • Limited budget for initial development and deployment.
  • Compatibility with Android and iOS devices for mobile access.
