epic-utility

Introduction

The "epic-utility" project is designed to provide individual users with a streamlined utility app that focuses on task management, work tracking, reminders, and unique code generation in English. This document outlines the system requirements necessary to develop and implement the application effectively.

System Overview

The epic-utility app aims to enhance productivity by offering a simple and efficient platform for individuals to manage their daily tasks and reminders. It also includes a feature for generating unique codes, which can be used for various purposes such as organizing tasks or creating identifiers. The app is designed with a user-friendly interface to ensure ease of use and accessibility.

Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should be able to add tasks to my task list.
  • As a User, I should be able to track the progress of my work.
  • As a User, I should be able to set reminders for my tasks.
  • As a User, I should be able to generate unique codes in English.

User Personas

  • User: An individual looking to manage personal tasks, track work progress, set reminders, and generate unique codes for organizational purposes.

Visuals Colors and Theme

  • primary: #1A73E8 (a vibrant blue to convey trust and efficiency)
  • primary_light: #E8F0FE (a light blue for hover states and secondary UI)
  • secondary: #FF6F61 (a coral hue for headlines and emphasis)
  • accent: #FFD700 (a bright gold for CTAs and active states)
  • highlight: #FFA500 (an orange for hover states and notifications)
  • bg: #FFFFFF (a clean white for the page background)
  • surface: rgba(245, 245, 245, 0.8) (a light gray for card/panel backgrounds)
  • text: #333333 (a dark gray for primary text)
  • text_muted: #777777 (a softer gray for secondary text and labels)
  • border: rgba(200, 200, 200, 0.5) (a subtle gray for borders)

Signature Design Concept

The epic-utility app will feature an interactive "Task Galaxy" on the home page. Users will navigate through a 3D galaxy where each star represents a task. Clicking on a star opens a task card with details and options to edit or set reminders. Dragging the mouse rotates the galaxy, allowing users to explore their tasks in a dynamic and engaging way. Hovering over stars highlights connections between related tasks. This concept will be implemented using @react-three/fiber and @react-three/drei for the 3D environment, ensuring a captivating and interactive user experience.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The landing page will employ a "parallax" interaction model, creating a layered depth effect as users scroll through the content. Decorative elements like distant stars and nebulae will move at different speeds, enhancing the visual storytelling. Internal pages, such as task lists and settings, will adopt a "static" model to prioritize layout clarity and reading speed.

Non-Functional Requirements

  • The app must be responsive and accessible on various devices, including smartphones and tablets.
  • The system should ensure data security and user privacy.
  • The application should perform efficiently, with minimal load times and smooth transitions.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Python with FastAPI
  • Database: MySQL or MariaDB, using Alembic for migrations
  • AI Tools: None specified
  • Local Orchestration: Docker, docker-compose
  • Server-side Orchestration: Kubernetes

Assumptions and Constraints

  • The app will be developed for individual users, not teams or collaborative environments.
  • Code generation will be limited to unique codes in English, without programming language support.
  • The app will prioritize simplicity and user-friendliness.

Glossary

  • Task Galaxy: A 3D visualization of tasks where each task is represented as a star in a galaxy.
  • Parallax: A scrolling effect where background images move slower than foreground images, creating a sense of depth.
  • Static Model: A design approach focusing on minimal motion and clear layout for data-heavy pages.
