System Requirements Document (SRD)

Project Name: cobalt-url

1. Introduction

The cobalt-url project aims to transform the existing institute-related website (https://blackterminal-computer.github.io/institute/index.html) into a mobile application tailored for students. This app will enhance accessibility, provide personalized features, and improve user engagement by leveraging mobile-specific functionalities such as notifications and quick access to class schedules or materials.

Freshfry, based in India, envisions this app as a streamlined and user-friendly tool for students to interact with institute resources effectively.

2. System Overview

The cobalt-url app will serve as a mobile extension of the institute's website, offering students a seamless experience to access information, schedules, and updates. Key features include:

  • Notifications for updates and announcements.
  • A secure login area for personalized content.
  • Quick links to class schedules, materials, and other resources.

The app will be designed with a focus on simplicity, usability, and responsiveness, ensuring it meets the needs of students in India. Locale-specific defaults such as IST timezone and INR currency will be considered where applicable.

  • As a Student, I should be able to log in securely to access personalized content.
  • As a Student, I should be able to view and download class schedules and materials.
  • As a Student, I should be able to navigate the app easily to find institute-related information.

4. User Personas

Primary User Persona:

Students

  • Age Group: 16–25 years
  • Tech Savvy Level: Moderate
  • Needs: Quick access to institute resources, personalized updates, and notifications.

Unique Color Palette:

The cobalt-url app will feature a modern and vibrant color scheme inspired by academic and professional tones.

  • Background: #F5F9FF (Soft Sky Blue)
  • Surface: #FFFFFF (Pure White)
  • Text: #2B2D42 (Deep Charcoal)
  • Accent: #3A86FF (Bright Azure Blue)
  • Muted Tones: #A8DADC (Soft Teal)

This palette reflects a clean, professional, and approachable aesthetic suitable for students.

6. Signature Design Concept

Concept: Interactive Blueprint Landing Page

The cobalt-url app will feature a bold and unforgettable landing page designed as an interactive blueprint.

Details:

  • The homepage will resemble an architectural drawing, with pencil-sketch animations of institute buildings and resources.
  • As users swipe or tap, sections of the blueprint will "zoom in" and transform into clickable icons representing features like schedules, notifications, and materials.
  • Micro-interactions will include subtle pencil strokes animating when users hover over or click items.
  • The background will dynamically shift between day and night tones based on the time of day (e.g., soft blue during the day, deep navy at night).
  • A playful yet professional aesthetic will engage students while maintaining the institute's credibility.

This design will make the app instantly fascinating and memorable, ensuring a strong first impression.
