Cedar-System

Introduction

The Cedar-System project aims to develop a simple, single-page design for a to-do application. This document outlines the system requirements for creating a minimalistic and efficient user interface that meets the user's needs.

System Overview

The Cedar-System is designed as a straightforward, single-page application that allows users to manage their tasks efficiently. The focus is on simplicity and ease of use, ensuring that users can quickly add, view, and manage their to-do items without unnecessary complexity.

Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should be able to add a new to-do item to the list.
  • As a User, I should be able to view all my to-do items on a single page.
  • As a User, I should be able to mark a to-do item as completed.
  • As a User, I should be able to delete a to-do item from the list.

User Personas

  • User: The primary user of the Cedar-System, who needs a simple interface to manage daily tasks efficiently.

Core User Flows

  • User opens the application -> User adds a new to-do item -> User views the list of to-do items -> User marks items as completed or deletes them as needed.

Visuals Colors and Theme

  • primary: #4A90E2 (a calm blue for the main interface elements)
  • primary_light: #A6C8FF (a lighter blue for hover states)
  • secondary: #FF6F61 (a warm coral for emphasis and links)
  • accent: #FFD700 (a vibrant gold for call-to-action buttons)
  • highlight: #FFA500 (a bright orange for notifications and active states)
  • bg: #F5F5F5 (a light grey for the background)
  • surface: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.9) (a soft white for cards and panels)
  • text: #333333 (a dark grey for primary text)
  • text_muted: #777777 (a medium grey for secondary text)
  • border: rgba(204, 204, 204, 0.5) (a subtle grey for borders)

Signature Design Concept

The Cedar-System's homepage will feature an interactive "Task Wheel" that rotates as users add or complete tasks. This wheel will visually represent the user's task list, with each task appearing as a segment. Users can click on segments to mark tasks as complete or delete them. The wheel will animate smoothly using framer-motion, providing a dynamic and engaging user experience.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The interaction model for the Cedar-System will be "animated". The single-page design will incorporate smooth transitions and hover effects to enhance user engagement. The "Task Wheel" will be the focal point, with animations triggered by user interactions, such as adding or completing tasks.

Non-Functional Requirements

  • The application should load quickly and perform efficiently on all modern web browsers.
  • The design should be responsive and accessible on both desktop and mobile devices.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Not applicable for this single-page design
  • Database: Not applicable for this single-page design

Assumptions and Constraints

  • The application is intended for individual users managing personal tasks.
  • The design should prioritize simplicity and ease of use.
