System Requirements Document (SRD)

Project Name: Thread Flow

1. Introduction

The Thread Flow application is designed to empower fashion merchandisers by providing a centralized platform to manage vendors, conversations, negotiations, and orders. This document outlines the system requirements for Thread Flow, ensuring it meets the needs of individual merchandisers, small teams, and larger companies. Merchandisers will have full control over all aspects of the app, ensuring streamlined workflows and centralized management.

2. System Overview

Thread Flow is tailored for fashion merchandisers to simplify their operations. It offers tools for managing vendor directories, tracking conversations, negotiating prices, and monitoring orders from sample creation to delivery. Inspired by modern, fashion-forward platforms like Pinterest, the app features a clean and minimal design that resonates with its target audience.

Key features include:

  • Vendor directory with historical data tracking.
  • Conversation tracking with file sharing capabilities.
  • Negotiation tracker for quotes, counteroffers, and final pricing.
  • Order tracking from sample creation to delivery.
  • A simple dashboard summarizing key metrics such as active orders, pending negotiations, and vendor performance.
  • Selective re-run capability for regenerating specific sections of the System Requirements Document (SRD).

Merchandisers will manage all aspects of the app, ensuring centralized control without external vendor access.

3. Functional Requirements

As a Merchandiser:

  • I should be able to manage a vendor directory with historical data.
  • I should be able to track conversations with vendors, including file sharing.
  • I should be able to manage negotiations, including quotes, counteroffers, and final prices.
  • I should be able to track orders from sample creation to delivery.
  • I should be able to view a simple dashboard summarizing active orders, pending negotiations, and vendor performance.
  • I should be able to selectively re-run specific sections of the System Requirements Document (SRD) for updates.

4. User Personas

Merchandiser

  • Role: Primary user of Thread Flow.
  • Responsibilities: Manage vendor directories, conversations, negotiations, and orders.
  • Needs: A streamlined, intuitive interface to handle multiple vendors and orders efficiently.

Vendor (Indirect Role)

  • Role: External entity interacting with merchandisers.
  • Responsibilities: Provide quotes, negotiate terms, and fulfill orders.
  • Needs: Clear communication and documentation provided by merchandisers through the app.

5. Visuals Colors and Theme

Color Palette:

Thread Flow will feature a clean and minimal design inspired by modern fashion aesthetics. Below is the unique color palette:

  • Background: #FAF3E0 (Warm Ivory)
  • Surface: #FFFFFF (Pure White)
  • Text: #2E2E2E (Deep Charcoal)
  • Accent: #FF7E5F (Peach Coral)
  • Muted Tones: #C4C4C4 (Soft Gray)

This palette reflects a contemporary, elegant, and fashion-forward identity, ensuring the app resonates with its target audience.

6. Signature Design Concept

Concept: Interactive Fabric Swatch Homepage

The homepage of Thread Flow will feature an interactive fabric swatch design. Users will be greeted by a grid of fabric swatches that dynamically shift and ripple as the mouse moves over them, creating a tactile and immersive experience.

Details:

  • Animations: Each swatch will subtly ripple and change texture when hovered over, mimicking the feel of real fabric.
  • Transitions: Clicking on a swatch will zoom into a detailed view, revealing app sections like Vendor Directory, Conversations, Negotiations, and Orders.
  • Color Shifts: The swatches will subtly change hues based on the time of day, creating a living, responsive design.
  • Micro-interactions: Icons and buttons will animate with smooth transitions, maintaining the clean and minimal aesthetic.

This design concept ensures Thread Flow makes a bold first impression, combining functionality with a fashion-inspired visual identity.

7. Non-Functional Requirements

  • The system should support high scalability to accommodate growing user bases.
  • The app must ensure data security and privacy, especially for sensitive vendor and order information.
  • The interface should be responsive and optimized for both desktop and mobile devices.
  • The app should maintain high performance, with minimal loading times for all features.
  • The selective re-run capability must allow users to regenerate specific sections of the SRD without affecting other parts.

8. Tech Stack
