amber-design System Requirements Document

Introduction

The purpose of this document is to outline the system requirements for the "amber-design" project, which focuses on creating a single-page design for a to-do application. The application aims to provide a clean and straightforward user experience for managing tasks.

System Overview

The "amber-design" project is a single-page to-do application designed to offer users a simple and intuitive interface for managing their tasks. The application will allow users to add, delete, and view tasks in a streamlined manner, ensuring ease of use and efficiency.

Functional Requirements

  • As a User, I should be able to add new tasks to my to-do list.
  • As a User, I should be able to delete tasks from my to-do list.
  • As a User, I should be able to view all my tasks in a single view.

User Personas

  • User: The primary user of the application who will manage their personal tasks using the to-do list.

Visuals Colors and Theme

The color palette for the "amber-design" project is designed to be unique and visually appealing, enhancing the user experience:

  • primary: #4A90E2 (a calming blue)
  • primary_light: #A6C8FF (a lighter tint of the primary blue)
  • secondary: #F5A623 (a warm amber for emphasis)
  • accent: #D0021B (a vibrant red for CTAs and active states)
  • highlight: #F8E71C (a bright yellow for notifications)
  • bg: #FFFFFF (a clean white background)
  • surface: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.9) (a slightly transparent white for panels)
  • text: #333333 (a dark grey for primary text)
  • text_muted: #9B9B9B (a softer grey for secondary text)
  • border: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.1) (a subtle grey for borders)

Signature Design Concept

The "amber-design" project will feature an interactive, dynamic homepage that resembles a digital corkboard. Users can drag and drop task cards around the board, mimicking the physical act of organizing sticky notes. Each task card will have a subtle shadow and a slight bounce animation when moved, providing a tactile feel. The background will feature a soft, animated gradient that shifts throughout the day, creating a sense of time and progress. This concept will be implemented using framer-motion for the drag-and-drop interactions and animations.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The landing page will utilize a "parallax" interaction model, providing a layered depth effect as users scroll. The task cards will remain in the normal flow, while decorative elements like animated gradients will move at different speeds to create a sense of depth. This approach will enhance the storytelling and visual richness of the first impression.

Non-Functional Requirements

  • The application should load within 2 seconds on a standard broadband connection.
  • The user interface should be responsive and accessible on both desktop and mobile devices.
  • The application should support the latest versions of major web browsers.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: FastAPI
  • Database: MySQL, using Alembic for migrations
  • Local orchestration: Docker, docker-compose

Assumptions and Constraints

  • The application will be developed for the Indian market, considering local timezone and currency formats.
  • The design will prioritize simplicity and ease of use, focusing on core task management features.
