Deep Mix System Requirements Document
Introduction
The purpose of this document is to outline the system requirements for the "Deep Mix" project, a professional-grade DJ software platform. This document will guide the development process to ensure the final product meets the high standards expected in the DJ software industry.
System Overview
Deep Mix will include advanced real-time stems separation capabilities.
Deep Mix is designed to be a fully-featured, professional DJ mixing and live-performance platform. It aims to provide DJs with powerful tools for real-time audio manipulation, including stems separation, and a seamless user experience. The platform will be comparable to industry leaders such as Serato DJ Pro, Rekordbox, Traktor Pro, and VirtualDJ, offering advanced features like ultra-low latency, GPU acceleration, and a modern UI/UX.
Functional Requirements
- As a DJ, I should be able to perform real-time stems isolation for vocals, melody, bass, and drums.
- As a DJ, I should be able to mix up to 4 decks simultaneously with synchronized playback.
- As a DJ, I should be able to use advanced effects like echo, reverb, and filter in real-time.
- As a DJ, I should be able to organize my music library with smart crates and dynamic filtering rules.
- As a DJ, I should be able to record high-quality sessions and export them in WAV or MP3 formats.
- As a DJ, I should be able to map MIDI controls and integrate external hardware seamlessly.

User Personas
- Professional DJ: Experienced users who require advanced features for live performances and studio work.
- Amateur DJ: Enthusiasts who are learning and experimenting with DJing, needing intuitive controls and guidance.
- Event Organizer: Users who manage events and require reliable software for live performances.

Signature Design Concept
The Deep Mix homepage will feature an interactive 3D DJ console using @react-three/fiber and @react-three/drei. Users can click and drag to rotate the console, zoom into specific controls, and see real-time animations of waveform manipulations. The console will have glowing elements that respond to user interactions, such as knobs turning and sliders moving. This immersive experience will make users feel like they're interacting with a physical DJ setup, enhancing the overall engagement and excitement.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction
The landing page will utilize a "parallax" interaction model, providing a layered depth effect as users scroll. Decorative elements like atmospheric lights and particle fields will move at different speeds, creating a dynamic and visually rich first impression. Internal pages will adopt a "static" model for clarity and ease of use, focusing on functionality and performance.
Non-Functional Requirements
- The application must maintain ultra-low latency for real-time audio processing.
- The software should be stable and reliable for live performances.
- The UI/UX must be modern, intuitive, and responsive across devices.
- The system should support future AI integrations and cloud-based features.
Tech Stack
- Frontend: React, TypeScript, TailwindCSS, Framer Motion, Zustand or Redux Toolkit
- Desktop Framework: Electron
- Audio Engine: Web Audio API, Tone.js, WASM optimizations
- Waveform Rendering: GPU-accelerated engine
- Storage: IndexedDB and/or SQLite
- Hardware: Web MIDI API, HID-ready architecture

Assumptions and Constraints
- The application will be developed for both Windows and macOS platforms.
- The system must handle large music libraries efficiently.
- The software should be compatible with a wide range of MIDI controllers and external hardware.
Glossary
- Stems: Individual audio elements such as vocals, melody, bass, and drums.
- DSP: Digital Signal Processing, used for manipulating audio signals.
- MIDI: Musical Instrument Digital Interface, a protocol for communicating with musical instruments and controllers.
- GPU Acceleration: Using the Graphics Processing Unit to enhance performance for rendering and processing tasks.
This document serves as a comprehensive guide for the development of the Deep Mix project, ensuring all requirements are met for a successful and professional DJ software platform.
