DESTRAVE System Requirements Document

Introduction

The DESTRAVE project aims to create a colorful and user-friendly application designed specifically for individuals over the age of 50. The application will facilitate traditional learning by translating common phrases and daily expressions from Portuguese to Spanish, French, and English. The focus is on words and expressions used in various everyday contexts such as commerce, education, public spaces, home, transportation, greetings, food, accommodation, personal care, buying, selling, and general commerce.

System Overview

DESTRAVE is an educational application that supports language learning and translation for older adults. It emphasizes ease of use with larger text and a vibrant interface to enhance readability and engagement. The application will cover a wide range of everyday scenarios to help users communicate effectively in multiple languages.

Signature Design Concept

The DESTRAVE application will feature an interactive "Language Journey" map on the home page. Users will navigate through a colorful, animated map representing different everyday scenarios (e.g., market, school, home). Each location on the map will be clickable, opening a pop-up with relevant phrases and translations. The map will use @react-three/fiber for 3D effects, allowing users to zoom in and explore each area in detail. The transitions between locations will be smooth, using framer-motion for spring physics animations, creating an engaging and memorable learning experience.

Interaction Model & Motion Direction

The landing page will employ a "parallax" interaction model, providing a layered depth experience as users scroll through different sections of the language map. Each section will have a distinctive core mechanic, such as a 3D scene or scroll-triggered animations, to keep the user engaged and enhance the storytelling aspect of language learning.

Non-Functional Requirements

• The application must be highly accessible, with large text and intuitive navigation.
• The system should support offline access to translations once downloaded.
• The application should be responsive and work seamlessly across various devices.
