Arrow System Requirements Document

1. Introduction

The Arrow project aims to develop an application that effectively integrates an advertisement system and user retention features to generate revenue and improve user engagement. This document outlines the system requirements necessary to achieve these objectives.

2. System Overview

Arrow is designed to be a user-centric application that leverages advertisements to generate revenue while maintaining high user engagement through retention strategies. The system will be tested by a group of 12 app testers over a 14-day period to ensure functionality and effectiveness.

3. Functional Requirements

  • As a General App Tester, I should be able to test the app for 14 days to ensure all functionalities work as expected.
  • As a User, I should be able to see both standard and rewarded ads to enhance my app experience.
  • As a User, I should be able to start using the app seamlessly to ensure ease of access and usability.
  • As a User, I should be able to interact with ads to generate revenue for the app.
  • As a User, I should be able to receive rewards for engaging with ads to encourage continued use.
  • As a Developer, I should be able to track ad performance to optimize revenue generation.
  • As a Developer, I should be able to implement user retention strategies to keep users engaged with the app.
  • As a Developer, I should be able to analyze user engagement data to improve app features and retention strategies.

4. User Personas

  • General App Tester: Responsible for testing the app's functionalities over a 14-day period.
  • User: Engages with the app and interacts with advertisements, potentially receiving rewards.
  • Developer: Implements and optimizes advertisement and retention strategies to maximize revenue and user engagement.

5. Core User Flows

  • User opens the app -> interacts with standard ads -> receives rewards for engaging with rewarded ads -> continues using the app.
  • General App Tester tests app features -> reports any issues or bugs -> ensures ads display correctly.
  • Developer monitors ad performance -> adjusts strategies based on user engagement data -> implements improvements to enhance user retention.

6. Visuals Colors and Theme

  • primary: #1A73E8 (a deep blue for brand identity)
  • primary_light: #4D90FE (a lighter blue for hover states)
  • secondary: #FF7043 (a coral hue for emphasis and links)
  • accent: #FFD700 (a vibrant gold for CTAs and active states)
  • highlight: #FFA726 (a warm orange for notifications and active indicators)
  • bg: #F5F5F5 (a light grey for the page background)
  • surface: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.8) (a white card/panel background)
  • text: #212121 (a dark grey for primary text)
  • text_muted: #757575 (a softer grey for secondary text)
  • border: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.1) (a subtle black border)

7. Signature Design Concept

The Arrow app will feature an interactive "Ad Carousel" on the home page. Users can swipe through a series of ads that animate into view with a smooth, spring-like motion using framer-motion. Each ad card will flip to reveal a reward or additional information when tapped, creating an engaging and dynamic user experience. The carousel will be visually striking, with vibrant colors and subtle animations that draw the user's attention without being intrusive.

8. Interaction Model & Motion Direction

  • Interaction Model: Animated
    • The home page will feature moderate scroll-triggered reveals and hover transitions, with spring physics applied to interactive elements like the Ad Carousel.
  • Internal Pages: Static
    • Internal pages will prioritize layout clarity and minimal motion to ensure quick access to information and features.

9. Non-Functional Requirements

  • The system must support up to 1,000 concurrent users.
  • Advertisements should load within 2 seconds to maintain user engagement.
  • The app should have a 99.9% uptime to ensure availability.

10. Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React for Web
  • Backend: Python, FastAPI
  • Database: MySQL or MariaDB, using Alembic for migrations
  • AI Models: Not specified
  • AI Tools: Not specified
  • Local Orchestration: Docker, docker-compose
  • Server-side Orchestration: Kubernetes

11. Assumptions and Constraints

  • The app will be tested by 12 app testers over a 14-day period.
  • Revenue generation is primarily through advertisements.
  • User retention strategies will be data-driven and continuously optimized.

12. Glossary

  • Ad Carousel: A feature that allows users to swipe through a series of advertisements.
  • Rewarded Ads: Advertisements that offer users rewards for engagement.
  • User Retention: Strategies aimed at keeping users engaged with the app over time.
