Everything you need to know about how scenic-srs handles your credentials, security, and multi-factor authentication.
scenic-srs uses your USPTO credentials to authenticate with the USPTO Electronic Filing System (EFS-Web / Patent Center) on your behalf. This allows us to submit patent applications, check application status, and retrieve office actions directly — without you needing to navigate USPTO portals manually. Your credentials are transmitted over TLS-encrypted connections and are never stored in plain text.
Yes. scenic-srs never stores your raw password. Credentials are encrypted using AES-256 before being written to our database, and decryption keys are stored in a separate secrets manager (not alongside your data). Our infrastructure undergoes regular third-party security audits and penetration testing. You can revoke our access at any time from your account settings.
AES-256 EncryptedMulti-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds a second layer of identity verification beyond just your password. After entering your password, you will be prompted for a one-time code generated by an authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator or Authy), a hardware security key (FIDO2/WebAuthn), or an SMS code sent to your phone. Even if your password is compromised, an attacker cannot access your account without this second factor.
Absolutely. You can update your stored USPTO credentials, change your MFA method, or rotate your access tokens at any time from the Verification or Settings pages. We recommend updating your credentials whenever you change your USPTO password. Changes take effect immediately and all active sessions will re-authenticate on the next USPTO interaction.
During MFA setup, scenic-srs provides one-time recovery codes — download and store these in a safe location. If you lose your MFA device and have your recovery codes, you can use one to regain access and then reconfigure MFA. If you have neither, contact our support team at support@scenic-srs.com with your account verification details and we will initiate a secure identity recovery process.
No scenic-srs employees can view your decrypted credentials. Access to credential data is restricted to automated systems that handle USPTO filing tasks. All access events are logged and auditable. We do not sell, share, or transmit your credentials to any third party beyond USPTO's own systems during filing actions. You can review all access events in your Audit log.
Zero Employee AccessYes — you can revoke our access instantly from your Settings page. This deletes all stored credentials and tokens from our systems. You can also change your USPTO password directly on the USPTO portal to immediately invalidate any active sessions. We recommend revoking access if you suspect any unauthorised activity.
