Your Neighborhood, Delivered
Manage your newspaper distribution with ease. Track subscribers, routes, and payments — all from one simple app built for local newspaper centers.
PROFESSIONAL DESIGN PROMPT Design a complete mobile app (V1/MVP) for local newspaper distribution management in India, built specifically for local newspaper center owners — not a generic delivery app. Context & User: The primary user is a growing-scale local newspaper center owner (based on real field research — persona "Raja Lal", 12 years in business, 400-500 subscribers, manages 4 delivery boys). He starts his day at 4:30 AM, is comfortable with a smartphone and WhatsApp, but has no experience with complex business-management apps. He currently manages everything by memory, phone calls, and paper slips. He is not a tech enthusiast — every screen must be large-text, low-cognitive-load, and forgiving of mistakes. Design principles: Warm, trustworthy, "neighborhood shopkeeper" feel — not a cold corporate SaaS look. Use a warm terracotta/earthy color palette. Large tap targets, minimal text per screen, no jargon. Every core action should be completable in 1-2 taps. The app is for the OWNER only. Customers and delivery boys interact via WhatsApp, not this app — keep that separation clear in the design. Full screen list (with every field and state): Onboarding (first-time setup) Owner enters: name, shop/business name, area/locality, number of delivery boys Bulk-add subscribers via a simple form: name, address, newspaper type, monthly rate Empty state: "Add your first subscriber to get started" with a big + button Home Dashboard Today's date, total active subscribers count, total delivery boys count A notification badge: "3 new requests from customers" (pulled from WhatsApp form submissions) Primary action button: "Send today's delivery list" (large, top of screen) Secondary stat row: pending payments count, this month's collected amount Customer Requests screen List of incoming pause/resume/new-subscription requests, each card shows: customer name, address, request type (pause / resume / new / cancel), requested date, and a note field if the customer added one Each request has two buttons: Approve / Reject Approved requests automatically update the subscriber list Empty state: "No pending requests today" Subscriber List / Directory Searchable, filterable list (filter by: active, paused, area/route) Each subscriber row: name, address, newspaper type, monthly rate, payment status badge (Paid/Pending, color-coded) Tap a subscriber to open their detail view: full history of pauses/resumes, payment history log, edit/delete option Delivery List Generator (WhatsApp integration screen) Shows subscribers grouped by delivery boy/route A "Generate & Send" button that compiles the day's/week's active subscriber list into a clean, readable WhatsApp text message Preview of the exact WhatsApp message text before sending Option to edit route grouping manually Payment Tracker Monthly grid view: each subscriber as a row, each month as a column Owner taps a cell to toggle Paid/Pending (no payment gateway, no auto-deduction — manual entry only) Monthly summary at top: total expected, total collected, total pending Overdue subscribers highlighted in a warm alert color Delivery Boy Management (lightweight, no GPS) Simple list of delivery boys with name, phone number, assigned area/route, number of subscribers assigned No live tracking, no map — this is intentionally left out of V1 Settings Business info edit, WhatsApp number for sending lists, language toggle (Hindi/English), simple notification preferences Customer-side touchpoint (outside the app, for reference): A simple WhatsApp-shared link/form the owner sends once a month, where the customer fills: name/address confirmation, pause or resume request, date. No app download needed for the customer. Delivery-boy-side touchpoint (outside the app, for reference): A plain WhatsApp text message, auto-generated by the app, listing which houses get which paper that day/week — replacing verbal instructions. Explicitly out of scope for this V1 (do not design these): No GPS/live delivery tracking No in-app chat or messaging system No automatic UPI/payment gateway integration or auto-deduction No multi-vendor/marketplace features No customer-facing app or login Visual tone: warm terracotta and cream palette, rounded friendly UI elements, clear iconography, large readable typography—designed to feel approachable to a first-time smartphone-app user, not like an enterprise dashboard
