Open datasets · licenses
Nihongo Path is built on open linguistic datasets. Each source is used under its own license and credited here.
Any reading or meaning that cannot be confirmed is marked needs review rather than guessed.
Every reading, meaning and stroke the app teaches comes from an open dataset. Each source is used under its own license and credited below, and each takes its place in the order the content reaches your lesson.

Community-maintained word and kanji lists, used with attribution
The JLPT has no official vocabulary or kanji list. Level assignments (N5 to N2) follow community-maintained lists built around the open datasets above; each list is credited to the community that maintains it and used with attribution.

The Japanese and Urdu display fonts could not be loaded, so Nihongo Path cannot render its scripts correctly.

The path
Four levels, one continuous climb. Each level uses only the kanji and grammar of that level or lower, so nothing you meet is out of reach.

Offline-first
Every lesson, your progress and the spaced-repetition schedule live in a local database on the device. The daily review queue, quizzes and stroke-order practice keep working on a train, on aeroplane mode, or anywhere the signal drops — your study routine is never waiting on a server.
Optional · online only
The AI tutor is optional and reaches out only when there is a connection, through your own small backend proxy — the provider key stays on the server, never inside the app. When it is unavailable, the rest of your study carries on offline just the same.
