FluxGet · local Windows download manager
Take controlof everybyte
Install FluxGet on Windows and keep every transfer in view: parallel Range connections, pause and resume, crash recovery, queues, schedules and integrity checks — all running locally on your machine, without a hosted service or external cloud account.
Capability ledger / 08 modules
Everything FluxGet will do for you
Eight accepted capability groups, recorded as numbered modules. Values below are the shipping defaults — every one of them is configurable inside the local desktop application.
Parallel multi-connection transfer
Spec / Split each file into parallel HTTP Range segments so transfers use the bandwidth the server actually offers — with an explicit, conservative cap on how many connections a single download may open.
- Connections
- 12481632
- Default
- 8
- Ranges
- One Range request per segment, aligned to the remote length reported by Content-Length.
- Cap
- Connection count remains user-configurable per download and per queue.
Connections per download8 connectionsDefault 8 · 3 active railsPause and resume
Spec / Interrupt a transfer and continue it later without losing progress. Before any range is re-issued, the remote identity is revalidated so a changed file is never stitched onto an old partial.
- Revalidate with
- ETagLast-ModifiedContent-Length
- Resume rule
- Bytes already on disk are kept and only the missing ranges are requested.
- Mismatch
- If revalidation differs, the partial is reported as invalid instead of silently resumed.
Queues
Spec / Organise transfers into named queues, each with its own concurrency ceiling, priority order, active window, bandwidth ceiling, and retry policy.
- Queues
- Main DownloadsLarge FilesNight QueueVideosSoftwareDocuments
- Per queue
- Maximum concurrent downloads, priority, start and stop times, bandwidth limit, and retry policy.
- Ordering
- Priority levels High, Normal, and Low with visible drag handles for manual ordering.
Scheduling
Spec / Run transfers inside a chosen window rather than around the clock, repeating only on the days you select.
- Start
- 01:00 AM
- Stop
- 06:00 AM
- Recurring
- MondayTuesdayWednesdayThursdayFriday
- Post-completion
- Do nothingClose applicationSleep systemHibernate systemShutdown system
- Confirmation
- A power-management action requires explicit confirmation before it executes.
Automatic categorization
Spec / Completed files land in a category folder derived from their file type, so a downloads directory stays organised without manual sorting.
- Compressed
- .zip.rar.7z.tar.gz
- Documents
- .pdf.docx.xlsx.pptx
- Music
- .mp3.flac.wav
- Videos
- .mp4.mkv.webm.mov
- Programs
- .exe.msi.dmg.pkg.AppImage
- Images
- Common raster and vector image types.
- Disk Images
- .iso.img
- Other
- Anything the rules above do not match.
Browser integration
Spec / A companion extension hands browser-initiated downloads to FluxGet instead of letting the browser manage them.
- Browsers
- ChromeEdgeFirefox
- Interception
- Downloads started in the browser are handed over to FluxGet automatically.
- Context menu
- Download with FluxGetDownload all links with FluxGet
- Exclusions
- Domain and file-type exclusions keep chosen downloads in the browser.
Clipboard monitoring
Spec / An opt-in watcher recognises copied HTTP and HTTPS links and offers them as a download. It is off until you turn it on, and every offer can be declined.
- State
- Opt-in
- Detects
- HTTPHTTPS
- Offer
- A “Download detected” prompt presents Download and Ignore.
Detected clipboard URLhttps://releases.example.org/ubuntu/Ubuntu.isoMonitoring is off. Checking the form above is an explicit opt-in.
Authentication, bandwidth, proxy and integrity
Spec / Reach credentialed hosts, keep transfers inside a bandwidth budget, route through your network proxy, and confirm a finished file byte for byte.
- Authentication
- Basic AuthBearer tokensSession cookiesCustom headers
- Credentials
- OS credential storage
- Bandwidth
- UnlimitedSlowMediumFastCustom KB/s or MB/s
- Proxy
- SystemHTTPHTTPSSOCKS5
- Exclusions
- Per-domain proxy exclusions and per-download bandwidth overrides.
- Verification
- MD5SHA-1SHA-256SHA-512
Credentials are held in operating-system credential storage. Passwords are never written to the database in plain text.
Every value above is a shipping default, not a promise about your network — connection counts, bandwidth ceilings, and schedules are all yours to change. FluxGet is installable and usable locally on Windows without a hosted service or external cloud account.

Windows outside the window are held in the night queue until the next 01:00 AM start.
No power action. FluxGet stays open after the queue finishes.
06Recovery & Integrity
Recovery truth, stated plainly
FluxGet keeps the real transfer state visible: what is on disk, what the server still reports, and exactly when a retry is allowed. Nothing is marked complete until file integrity checks pass.

Remote revalidation differs
The stored file no longer matches the server’s current ETag or Last-Modified value. Resume is withheld and the partial data stays on disk until you revalidate or restart the transfer.

Local runtime requirement
FluxGet is installable and usablelocally on Windows, without a hosted service or externalcloud account for download management.
The desktop application runs on your own machine and needs no server round-trip to queue, pause, resume, or verify a transfer. Your queue lives on your disk, in a local SQLite database you can inspect.
Never transmitted to external analytics servers:
- Windows Credential Manager
- macOS Keychain
- Linux Secret Service
Credentials are held by the operating system, never in plaintext SQLite fields.
TLS certificate validation is never disabled globally.
